Oh my god! What amazing footage. So glad no one was killed or injured. The pilot sure waited till the last minute to eject!
Lots of excitment at the airshow, eh?

Fighter pilots are like truck drivers; they have so much experience that they believe they will save it, until it's almost too late.

Most people don't know that ejecting is a brutal process and often results in injury to the pilot, sometimes even career-ending injuries.

I just saw that on the news. I will never, ever go to an air show, and that's why. I'm glad no one was hurt, either the pilot or on the ground.

Husband said the jet crashed near the terminal, way too close for comfort! There was much speculation in Lethbridge about why the pilot waited so long to bail - some think that he was trying to control the plane as long as possible, maybe so it wouldn't hit the terminal. Yikes!

Yes, they're required to get the plane away from people, even if it means the pilot's life is lost....better that he, a trained military man, die than a bunch of innocent civilians. It's good that he was able to get the plane away from the crowd AND save his own life. Scary.

I grew up on a Naval Air Station, and they had annual air shows. They always scared me....even if I didn't go to the show, just living on base put our house in the possible crash zone. The only accident that occured while we lived there was that one guy overshot the runway, but still.

The Snowbirds used to fly above our house every year, but not the last 2 or so. It's very LOUD when they are so close! They'd zoom right above our roof (we are by the shore).

Picture from here. Pretty spectacular!

Wow. I could see the pilot coming down in his parachute behind the crash.

OMG, how awful. Yep, never go either. About 20 years ago in Niagara Falls two fighter jets collided during a show and pilots were killed. We could see the smoke here which is over 15 miles away.

During the air show at the Canadian National Exhibition some years ago there was a crash. My niece was one of the spectators at the time and she said it was awful to see.
