My now 11 year old cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 2 years ago which i discussed in my previous posts. i have been giving her Tapazole half a tablet 2x a day for about 1 year, that appears to be just right. before the medication she was dying/losing weight rapidly, there is not a doubt she would be dead already if i did not give this med.

i got an issue, after 4 refills i got told to bring the cat in for a check up before i can get another refill. I really cant afford $100 plus bill. If tests show the pills are not helping, there is no way i can afford the more expensive treatment alternatives. So a health check up or not, is not going to matter.

is there a way i can buy Tapazole though the net?

I would never purchase a prescription medicine for my cat through the internet, and especially not from a place that will sell it to you without a prescription. You have no idea what you are getting.

It is very important that your cat have the necessary lab work while she is on this medicine. The thyroid hormones fluctuate, and sometimes the doses have to be adjusted, either higher or lower, and in addition, it is not uncommon for cats on thyroid medicine to eventually develop CRF (kidney disease) also.

Please do work out some kind of payment arrangement with your vet, so your kitty can continue to get all the medical attention she needs.

You can apply for a Care Credit card, which is for vet bills only (be sure your vet participates).

You can put a little money away each week toward her necessary appointments.

Have a yard sale, or car wash, or bake sale to raise money, get your friends involved, or your church community if you belong to a church.

ok thanks otto

after 3 days of not giving the Tapazole , my cat started showing old signs of the hyperthyroism, being aggressive, running back and forth but not really going anywhere, although funny its not.

i went to the vet, asked and got a 3 week supply to hold me/my cat over til i can afford a cat visit

Please work with your vet on this. And, he's not trying to pad his income by asking for periodic check-ups - it's like diabetes in humans - dosages and effects have to be checked on to make sure everything is working the way it should - things can go south very quickly. I know it's tough - believe me, my two are up to senior panels twice a year, but it's honestly much better to try and keep on top of things, not only from the health perspective, but to catch things quickly before it's simply more expensive to fix.

Also, there are a lot of med scams on the net, again, both human and pet. Usually, if a deal seems too good to be true, it is - there will be something wrong with the medicine - perhaps close to being out of date, perhaps even counterfeit.

Most reputable net stores will require an RX from the vet, so a visit will be in order regardless.

CareCredit is a good option and it is not just for vets. It can be used with some physician and dentists as well
