I really don't know if there are flower shows around here, I would think so but I am not interested in flowers or plants at all.

There are two flower shows that we try to attend every spring. I really like the show in Harrisburg, PA. All the flowers and trees. They build pergolas and have streams running through the displays. Very pretty. I've taken tons of pictures.

The one in Philadelphia, PA is nice, but there are so many people there that you can't really see the displays. We didn't make it to that one this past spring.

Many of the garden clubs have flower shows here. The clubs often have working relationships with the area botanic gardens and work on creating gardens at the botanic gardens for the public to enjoy. I have a friend who's very active in the local garden club and she's always entering some kind of display or arrangement in some kind of show!

I've been to Chelsea and Hampton Court and the Floriade. Nothing that great back in the US thats for sure. Larger cities in the US have flower shows but not the great displays by the growers.
Many communities have garden walks which feature people's gardens about 6 of them but this is only a one or two day event. Funds raised usually go to some non profit group.

Congrats on the medal-thats quite the honor.
My only claim to UK gain fame is having my picture taken (and using his bathroom) of Alan Bloom. My garden tour group also got a private tour of Adrian Bloom's gardens.

The flower shows I am familiar with are the ones that daylily growers participate in. The local societies have informational displays and there is a competition for the members where they try to select scapes (stems) with flowers that approach perfection.

Mom and I won several blue ribbons and a couple of purple ones for our efforts as well as prizes won for our arrangements.

What a beautiful garden!!

We have flower shows or rather "garden shows" here in the summer. I've never been, but I've seen photos in the paper of some of the entries, and they're spectacular.

Congrats to Ken on the medal!

I love the display - quite impressive way to grow vegetables. Why not make them visually appealing as well as growing them for food? That's great!
