Introducing a new kitten?

Hiya!

To start this off, my cat, Boo, had a litter of two kittens some 3 or 4 months back. Around 2 weeks after they were born, my friends cat had a litter of 3 kittens.
I'm saying that 'cos now, at this point in time, my friend can't afford to keep all her kittens, and she's giving them away. She's found homes for two, and has decided to give the third kitten, a small pretty calico, to me. I'M OVERJOYED!!
But I can't help but be a bit worried. Y'see, I have introduced two kittens to my cat before, when I found homeless stray kittens that needed a mother, and things went well with them. But the last time I tried to introduce a grown cat to Boo, things didn't go well at all and I got badly scratched stopping a cat-fight. Well, once bitten, twice shy and all that, so I'm sort of afraid of my cat now when it comes to introductions to other kitties.
Anyway, my question is this,
Are there any special steps I should take when introducing the new kitten?
I've read the introduction article in the Behavior part, but that's the method I tried when I got scratched, so I rather don't trust it anymore.

Also, I'm sort of worried that Boo won't accept this kitten since her own kittens are just barely suckling themselves.
I really like this kitten, she's really cute and shy, and a bit of a playful biter (I like that in a cat. ), and I really want to keep her but I'm so worried it won't work out.
Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated!

There are a couple of excellent posts in the "Got a Behavior Problem, Look Here" post stickied at the top of this forum. Check 'em out and read them for good pointers and steps to take for introducing cats.
