I have a dog and 2 cats. I brought in my one cat a few months ago from a feral colony.

I did see a worm from his anus a few months ago and have been giving him Diatomaceous Earth (food grade) daily ever since.

However, my cat tigger just ran from my bathroom like he did something wrong (and didnt want to be blamed) he pooped on my bathroom rug - which is when I noticed the worms on the dropping.

He actually had some feces still stuck to his anus - it took a few times and i pulled out what looked like a long piece of crumpled paper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please let me know if this is something other than paper - cause im just assuming he ate it.

So anyway... I now know that he has worms - the other cat may (i had been cutting the feces to check and hadnt seen any - but that was 2 months ago)

Im going to just forget the DE for tigger and get him a Drontal tablet from my vet.

I read that tape worms (which i saw in a picture and these looked similar) come from fleas. Now... do you always know when you have fleas because i havent seen ANY - on any of the animals. I apply DE to their fur and i have combed out black dots on Tigger (that didnt move) - i read that would be their feces - but never saw an actual flea.

Could this infestation in Tigger be from Max though (who could have had them when he was living outside) - they use the same litterbox.

The otehr question I have is - would u guys recommend drontal for my dog as well to be safe? She will eat cat feces outside...

thanks for any help

I am completely out of work and cant afford 3 vet visits. I still care for ferals also.

You really need meds from the vet to get rid of the worms. If you have a good vet and you know your vet well, ask for meds for all three.

Thanks.... by 230 today all the vets in the offiice had gone.....?? I guess any emergencies had to pay top $....

Anyway, I have a call in to get meds tomorrow...

Thing is my dog eats feces as I stated. The one cat was a stray... what I don't get is why my 7 year old indoor cat has them..... r they easily transmitted between pets?

Also is the long paper I pulled from his anus an issue? He eats plastic.... but I've never notice paper... it was like 4, 5 inches long and half an inch wide!
