There are other treatments for pancreatitis, but my vet hasn't hasn't made a definitive diagnosis at this point. The anti-nausea medication more than anything is a way to hopefully soothe her stomach so she'll eat.

Katie refused wet food when we got home, but ate a little chicken baby food with some enthusiasm and drank some water.

Thanks for keeping us updated. Getting the baby food into her is something anyway. Sometimes once a kitty gets something into her tummy she feels better enough to try some of her own food after a bit.

Keep us posted.
Katie

Seems like the baby food did the trick. She ate a little more of it last night and actually slept with me instead of hiding, which is a relief. She ate about half a can of Fancy Feast this morning.

Thanks, everybody.

Katie's continuing to eat, but not a lot. I've been able to tempt her with Fancy Feast, but that's about it. Not my first choice, but at least it's something. As far I can tell she's not eating any dry food either, but she's been eating mostly wet food recently anyway. She's still drinking and hasn't vomited since Wed. night, so that's a good thing at least. We're going to give it through the weekend to see if her appetite improves any more then run another blood panel next week.

Thanks for the update. So glad Katie is doing better. NO vomiting since Wednesday is a good thing!

Thanks, guys.

Katie has eaten a little wet food this weekend, but not near as much as she needs to. Still no vomiting. Drinking okay. No litterbox issues. She's been hiding under the bed some, but has been out too wanting attention. I'm calling the vet first thing in the morning and plan to ahead with another blood panel.

Please keep the vibes coming. Thanks!

Does Katie like to be hand fed? Sometimes I've had success that way with reluctant eaters. Warm the wet food all nice and smelly and offer blobs of it off the fingers. Tolly loves being fed like that. Bibbs
3/05 was the kitty who originally taught me that little trick.

Please, if your vet hasn't done the fPLI test yet, have it done first thing tomorrow morning.
It takes a few days for the results to come back and that's the only definitive test for feline pancreatitis. You need to find out if Katie has pancreatitis. If the results come back positive, there is a new prescription recovery diet you can get from your vet that should be helpful to her. If the results are negative, your vet will have to look elsewhere to determine why Katie is sick. In that case I imagine it might become necessary to do X-rays and an ultrasound. (We just went through this with one of our cats.)

Unfortunately in a situation like this one can't rely on blood work results alone (I mean chemistry profile and CBC results) because they might not show what the problem is. However, the WBC in the CBC might show something. Your vet could do that test alone, or together with other values.

(Hiding is always a bad sign that should not be ignored.)

Sending lots of get well wishes for Katie.

Katie's never been one to like licking food off my fingers, but it's worth a try. Thanks!

Honestly, aside from her reluctance to eat, Katie's hiding was the first indicator that something's wrong. She hides from company but never from me.

My vet hasn't mentioned the fPLI test, but I'll bring it up tomorrow morning. Thank you so much for the advice.
