Kitten Playing Too Rough

My kitten Charlie is 8 weeks old. His only behavior problem, so far, is that he will attack feet and ankles with claws and teeth - very painful! It's been many years since I had a kitten. I remember when Niko was young, she used to do the same thing, but I don't remember how we stopped it.

So far, I just tell him "no" & take him off my foot with one hand while distracting him with a toy in the other. He's very easy to distract.

Am I doing this right? How long does it take for kittens to learn not to do this?

I have two kittens in the house, roughly 17 and 15 weeks old and they STILL do that!! Not as much....they stopped doing it so much around 13ish weeks each but they still do every once in awhile. We ended up buying a ton of toys for the kittens (we already had a ton but we wanted to try new ones hoping it would help) and it did.
It hurts though, I feel your pain! I always said "NO!!" and threw a toy to distract them too...it does help!

My kitten Lilly is 12 weeks old now and she does the same thing. She will jump up and attack my leg. So far I either distract her with a toy or I clap my hands and tell her "no". Lilly plays so rough she attacks my other cats and drives them nuts. Everyone tells me she will grow out of it.

The joy of kittens!!. Enjoy every minute because they grow up too soon

Fishing pole toys or any toy that dangles to distract them always works a treat.
