I went in for my shelter morning.

We're knee deep in kittens, of course. One of our adults, Sugar, is out of a cage an roaming free. She LOVES people, and all the other cats. Poor girl. Odd-eyed white and black.

We have a Lucky-look-alike, Carolina. About 10 weeks old, and the softest fur on earth. And she's showing signs of abuse: A broken tail, and a broken toe. But she loves people, still!

I took two baby birds to the Bird Rehabilitation Center in Wilmer. One baby blue jay, and one baby cardinal. They know exactly how to take care of them, and have an excellent survival rate. They took down two special boxes, and opened them up. The blue jay went in one, and was fed what looked like a soft cat food pellet. The cardinal went in the other. Both looked happy and comfortable.

Man, that baby blue jay had a big voice!

Sugar is long-haired and came in all matted. She got completely shaved, and seemed to enjoy it! She doesn't show well, but she is a lover and just insists on being petted.

You have a big heart, Mike.

Yeah - jays are NOISY!!!! They make a wide variety of noises as adults, including one that sounds like a swinging rusty gate.

The little odd-eyed cat sounds lovely. I hope she gets a home soon.
