Over the river and through the woods...
Well, after 15 years of being in remission it is now confirmed. DH now has active Crohn's, back in full force. So far surgery isn't necessary (he already had a bowl resection in 1992 when they cut out where the small intestine and large intestine connects) but he's on steriods and a new med for Crohn's which is what they use for lukemia patients. And that one is kicking his butt...hyper, sick to his stomach, headaches, tired, etc. And mood swings are a side affect and he has been SUPER moody since he started taking this.

I hate seeing my baby feeling this badly and I'm trying to be as understanding as possible. Feeling like crap makes people cranky anyway, and the meds aren't helping. From what the doctor told him his body should regulate after he's been on them for a while but right now it's like a rollercoaster. Don't ask me the name of the meds because he's at work and the meds are in his lunch bag. But it's an anti-rejection drug, because that is basically what Crohn's is (from what I understand)...the body starts fighting itself. And, I do know that some people here have experience with Crohn's. Any website you would recommend? I feel bad because I really didn't research this when we got back together because he was controlling it with diet, but now I feel clueless. He's playing the "lets see if I can eat this" game...

Awww, hun I'm so sorry. I know very much how incredibly hard it is to deal with Crohn's as a cousin of mine is having a terrible time with it. I'll ask him if he has any tips, websites, etc. that he can recommend and I'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, LOTS of vibes coming from me!

Thanks everyone! DH just had a bad day on Sunday (I'm sure you know what that is like gardenandcats). We were pretty sure it was the steriods that are causing the mood swings, but since he's never taken this other medication before we weren't positive. At least the steriods are temporary. He took 5 a day the first week, 4/day the second, etc. He's down to 3 a day so he should be weaned off of them in a few weeks.

Sorry about your husband. I know a few people with Crohn's. Seems each person is different and tons of trial and error on what controls it.
