**Just FYI in case some may not know our story:**
We saved Luna after being orphaned in our garage by the mama cat
Hand fed her with syringe myself
We have 3 dogs ( 1 that loves her-1 that could care less-and 1 that wants to play a bit too rough) and 1 allergic husband who is doing OK unless he spends a lot of time with her.
**
Luna is 9 weeks this week
Her *home* in our home, is still in our bathroom.
She gets many visits all day long.

We bring her out and baby gate her off from our dogs in our kitchen when we are in there eating our breakfast/lunch/dinner and stays there with me until I am done with dishes (YES I still do dishes by hand-I have NO dish washer!
)
She also gets play time with my one Cairn who just loves her and is very gentle.

They enjoy each other greatly!

Time frame for those 3 instances are probably ...uumm...1-2 hours?
She gets held and loved throughout the day in my kid's room's for short periods.

Sleeps in the bathroom at night and otherwise is "in there" if we are gone.

I am worrying if I am doing OK her with her and her arrangement for living with us.

Does this sound OK to you guys?
Or are we not getting her out enough?
She is very happy and very playful and never meows to be *out* of her "room" so I am guessing she is getting enough of us touching loving and playing right?
She really should not be just let out to roam not only because we have dogs, but because she is still little yet, right?

Just a worry wart...will take any replies good or bad and will not be offended.

Cats (especially kittens) sleep something like 18 hours per day anyway. Whatever attention she gets from you is better than what she would have on the street. Don't feel guilty; she has a room where she can feel secure and sleep soundly, and she has people who love her, and she has a playmate. What more could a kitten want?

If she's starting to bother your husband's allergies, it may be time to start wiping her down with a wet cloth or bathing her weekly.

Oh! I forgot about doing that (washing her).

Thanks for the reminder

Thanks too for saying we are a good home with how we are doing things.

Why not look to putting a cheap wooden screen door on a bedroom. I know it can be unsightly, but it is not forever. That way your kitten can still be part of your family, yet safe.

She won't be such a "novelty" to your dogs when she is let out then. They can get used to her being around and seeing her all the time. Leave a couple of inches on the bottom for playing back and forth between the dog and kitten.

She could have a window with a bird feeder and fresh air. I just worry that she won't acclimate well being in a small bathroom. This way, she can see the family moving around, you can talk to her and she can be part of the group yet safe. I did this many times and it made me feel better too knowing she wasn't shut up, not being able to interact with the life of the family 24/7.

You sound like you sure do love her and you have a good heart to take her in!

We do pretty much have the dog issue worked out.
Maybe I can leash my too rough girl on me and train her more and let Luna out.
Then she can play with my male that loves her and my senior dog who could care less- I have no worries-with my rough girl leashed on me.

Yes exactly..I know how I feel with no sun and no fresh air.
That is exactly my concern.

I definatly agree, she's getting much more love than she would living outside
.
For this age this arangment will work fine since she's out the majority of the time when she's awake. I have a ten week old little guy who was a foster, and he will go to any length to escape his room, or even to get outside
, so just a heads up, she'll probably get more and more curious and excited to get out. As she gets older she'll be able to handle herself around your dogs, so it may be easier to let her out around them.
Anyway, it sounds like she's doing great with a great family!

Oh thanks Amy!
I guess I need to update this thread to say that Luna is out of her "room" now and living happily with our dogs

We are BEYOND thrilled too see our little fur family love and care for such a sweetie pie kitty.
It is really amazing how each one of our dogs interact with her.
I have a very protective male of Luna that pulls my female dog by the scruff when he thinks she is being too rough with Luna..it is so sweet...He sits and cleans Luna and lays by her when she cat naps...so so sweet...
ahhhh...life is good
