Last month my kitty got in to a fight with another cat, the altercation led to a bruise which eventually became a cyst. Unfortunately before the day of our vet visit, the cyst burst and drained by itself. Other than being a little wet, the only result was a small open wound. The vet looked at it gave him a shot, we asked for some anti-biotics and took him home. However when the injury was almost healed it filled with a small amount of fluid, maybe less than quarter size and drained again. This resulted in the injury reopening, now here's where the problem is. Every time it starts to heal my cat bites or licks the scab off. This has resulted in him having this perpetual injury for 3 weeks, it tries to heal over and over but I cannot get him to leave it alone. I've tried everything I can think of from vaseline to band aids to keep him from licking it. We did tell the vet that it was a problem that he would not stop aggravating the injury but he didn't offer us any advice at all.

The injury it literally a small cut on his right shoulder nothing more. Because I cannot keep it closed up I clean it several times a day. Usually though after I clean it seems to prompt my cat to bother it. What else can I do to resolve this problem?

Also, my cat it two years old, aside from vaccinations he's been to this vet twice ( once each year). I'm sure this vet knows his stuff but he just doesn't seem to be very helpful. He'll will tell us any issues with my cat but doesn't tell us how to resolve them. For instance last year my cat somehow got gingivitis the vet confirmed this gave him anti- biotics but no further information about how to resolve the problem.

My kitty has had a several issues recently and I want to completely resolve them, but it costs alot of money to keep taking him to this vet only get vague information and short lived fixes. Should I take him to a different vet?

If its only getting opened cause hes licking it then chances are its itching towards end. Try biocaine sold at pet stores. Its anti lick and anti pain. I use it all the time for recovering spays and not one issue.

You pay money for the vet service if wuestionable DEFINATLEY try another vet(or two....) I think a big deal for me is comfort as I have lots of cats and I know they dont eat THE best food or get "well visits" but they dont suffer either. I want the vet to know that I watch for issues and if any show up beyond my grasp(small cut/draining large hole rotting out for example.) I go to vet.

Thanks so much I'll go pick that up today. Once we get that resolved he'll be a lot happier. I think I will call around to some other vets too. I also forgot to mention that his usual vet has it posted on the wall that full payment is due up front. I'm going to look for a place that allows partial payments, because for some reason Milliardo (my kitty) is the only cat I ever had that seems to have a new health issue everything time I turn around.
