He's a keeper for sure!

I meow with my cats also. They are very chatty so I figure if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

sometimes. but it's mostly me talking to them in english with the same old questions day in and day out. for daisy it's "why are you so plump? you're not supposed to be that plump!!" for penny it's "why are you a brat? being a brat's not nice. do you love your baby sister? why aren't you nicer to your sister?" (which is absurd because penny and daisy are not sisters, i just "made" them step-sisters)

Of course! Schweppie and I have conversations all the time. Usually, they go like this:

Me: Hi Schweppie, how's life?
Schweppie: Good. Where's my food?
Me: Good, You're looking very cute today (accompanied by some petting and rubbing of the side of his head)
Schweppie: Thanks. When are you going to feed me?
Me: I had a crazy day at work, I'm glad to be home and to see you my little Schweppie
Schweppie: I'm glad to see you too because that means I'll be fed soon.
Me: Ok, just let me get my stuff put away and I'll be...
Schweppie: No! FEED ME NOW! I'M HUNGRY!!!

I mimic his sounds too but he then makes this other sound like he doesn't like me imitating him; like he knows I'm making fun of him. It's like a cross between a squeak and a growl. It's cute. I talk to my other cat but he doesn't like to talk much; he likes the physical touch.

i have 2 ways of looking at Cats talking. summer and winter time and and spring which makes 3. ok iam retired so i guess i can stay in bed 24/7 if i was allowed, i have worked hard for 40 years and most of my life crawed out of bed at 6am, so iam looking forward to getting up at 10 am, well atm iam going back to bed at 10am to try to catch up on sleep. All because i gave a cat some sardines, Food more food and i thought i tamed a wild beast. i thought the cat was about 2 years old, looked very healty,(well it was late summer when she finely came in=doors) and she spent the winter indoors if she wanted to.
This was not a lap cat, but at the same time she loved the couch, close but not to close. but also beging to talk to me and not just meow's. she started with bird sounds, so much i was tempeted to call her Birdy.
So next spring i get a wake up at kitty hours 2am or there abouts and i think she used every vocal note she could and used her weight also to sleep on my lower belly so i dreamed of needing a wee. Well anyway come early summer i was up at 4am easy {2;30 here is the false dawn, 3:30 and its getting bright} and i got in the habit of drinking my 1st coffee outdoors when also arround 4;30 the cat comes arround and sits on the wall near me and starts mewowing and to be honest i think her 1st mewow is Good morring

It's hard to not talk to them. Everyday I ask Lex, "Who loves you more than me?" "Who loves you more than me?" Of course I never get so much as a meow out of him. In fact, I don't think he likes talking to me other than the usual "feed me." You can say it's been a one-sided conversation.

I sometimes try and copy Daphne's sounds, but the only time she ever makes noise is when she knows its dinnertime and she's hasn't been fed yet, or when she's locked in or out of a room while I have my snake out, so im not really saying much at all. lol. plus im not very good at copying the sounds exactly haha.

I talk with my cats all the time, too. It's nice to see, from this thread, that I'm definitely not alone in that! Sometimes I try to mimic their sounds, other times we each use our own language. With a Siamese and a Cornish Rex, there's a lot of talking going on in our house.

Little kitten Charlie is still a baby, but he seems fairly talkative so far - not as much as the other cats, but then he isn't an oriental breed.

That's how I imagine my conversations with Holland would be if she was a talker. Almost the only time she actually says anything to me is when I ask her if she's hungry and ready to eat. Then it's "prrrrrrt!".

I've been cat-sitting my SIL's cat Gracey this week, and that girl is a talker! I've had more conversations with her in one week than I've had with Holland in nearly two years...

Yowling like a cat and sounding just like a cat!  OMG, I do this too!   I know your post is over three years old, but I've not found anybody else as bold as me when it comes to doing this in front of other people.  They all think I'm nuts.  Like you, I can sound exactly like my cats and this game goes on for a very long time at my house.  This is their most favorite thing and gets them hopping and running and jumping.  I have three cats and the sound of my yowls always makes them play.  It's like they are listening to dance music.  I have one neutered male and two females that are altered.  I'll go from sounding like a cat in heat to one that is lost, and I alternate to sounding like one who is meowing sweetly and begging for food.  I can also sound exactly like a baby kitten.  If I want attention, all I have to do is meow like a cat that is lost, and all three are up on my bed coming to my rescue.  This can appear very nutty to an outsider, as when I get louder and louder, it also sounds like I might be in pain, especially when yowling like a lost cat or one taking a ride in the car to see the vet.  If I'm laying in bed and I just want to know where they are, all I have to do is meow like a cat in heat and suddenly three tails will appear below the horizon of the bed, circling back and forth-- rather like seeing the fins of sharks over the helm of a boat.  Too hilarious, those fluffy tails floating around at the end of my bed!  If I just want the girl kitties to come to my rescue, I'll meow like a baby kitten and soon they are both up on the bed and in my face and sniffing my nose and mouth.  If I want all of them to start talking back, I keep yowling like a cat in heat and they respond with the same sound.  Sometimes I get so carried away that I start sounding like a strange animal and this always gets their ears perked up as they stretch their necks up to see where it's coming from.  Oh yeah, quite often we have quite an acapella chorus going on here at my house.  Most people have to rattle a bag of cat food to get their cats to come.  Not me!   All I have to do is speak cat! As you can already probably surmise, there's no man in my life (for this reason) and probably won't everbe as long as I'm on this kick with the cats.  But who cares!  LOL...  But at least for now, this is so much fun that I'm not giving it up.  I've created such a bond with them because of it and any new man in my life will just have to understand that the cats come first. If you decide to try this with your cats, I must caution you.  This cat-yowling almost got me into trouble once.  One afternoon I was yowling along with my cats and I wasn't aware that my window was partially open.    Fifteen minutes later there were two police officers knocking at my door.  I answered the door and stepped outside to talk with them, closing the door behind me.  They asked me if I was okay and were studying me suspiciously, said somebody had called the police saying there was a woman screaming in pain, They asked me if there was someone inside with me and I told them no, just my cats.  They continued looking at me funny and seemed to be checking me out for any sign of foul play, but since I was acting so calm, they went to the next house to ask the other neighbor.  I went back in and that when it dawned on me that I had been singing with my cats...just fifteen minutes before, and this must have been why they showed up at my door...and I was soooo embarrassed.  I went back out to tell the officers, but they were gone.   Whew!   Is there anybody else out there as crazy as me or is it time for me to see the shrink?

I often mimic what my cats are telling me, if anything it's funny to see the looks on their faces. They've even gone looking behind me to see where the sounds were coming from! I often talk to my self, it's kinda embarassing, but I tell people I'm talking to my cats. I can figure things out better if I actually say it out loud. But I AM a crazy cat lady!

The last time I posted in this thread was before Queen Eva came. Hard to believe there was ever such a time! I still talk to all my cats and they are still very talky to me and to one another. I do have a funny story to add:

One time as I was sitting here at my desk Queen Eva was downstairs singing. They all love to sing down there, good acoustics. I started singing back to her, making what I thought were sounds similar to the sounds she was making.

The Cat Singing abruptly stopped. I made the sound again and suddenly Queen Eva came creeping up the stairs, stiff legged, fur all puffed, eyes huge and black. She slowly walked toward me like that, staring and staring.

I have no idea what I said to her when I thought I was imitating her, but I never did it again :lol3:

I now leave the cat speak to the cats and talk to them in my own language. They understand it much better than most people realize :)

Autumn is also a chatterbox and even answers me back, bad girl.  I do mimic her at times and she talks right back.  I get a chuckle out of that.

If I were looking for a female companion, you would fascinate me! I, too, talk cat to my ladies and they talk back to me.  If I have a stray tom come around, I can scream like a fighting Alpha male, and scare the poop out of them.  Fortunately, I live so far away from any neighbor -a quarter of a mile - and out in the middle of nowhere, I can make as much noise as I want.
