I'm sure we all have some little interesting factoid from our lives that nobody else here would know about is. So let's hear it!

I'll start:

I used to be involved in strength training paralympians, and through that I became assistant coach for one of the Australian national league wheelchair basketball teams, and personal coach for a wheelchair basketball player who was named in the All Star 5 at the 2000 Paralympics

I once was chosen to "perform" onstage with "The Amazing Kreskin," a mentalist/magician who was famous in the 1970's.

Oh nice assistant coach/personal coach story! Yes, a million years could pass and still I'd never guess that.

I did great on my high school French tests and course. While in parent-teacher-conference, the French teacher told my mom he thought I could excel in it beyond the academic minimum (Minimum here is 1 year) and that I should seriously consider it. I chose to do the bare minimum, same as everything else in HS

Another thing, when I first entered the marketing realm on Wall Street, I literally didn't know the difference between a stock and a bond. I was a secretary who got a transfer into a high-pressure job i.e. phones ringing non-stop, numbers (prices) flashing at 100 hundred miles a minute, etc. We had headsets otherwise those phones would be glued to our faces! It was the actual job that I loved -- the high-speed, high-octane madness with very little quiet time and - most importantly - because it was not secretarial, which I had grown tired of. It was like that show Meerkat Manor -Our job was to be the "lookouts" and do math fast in our head (or with a calculator 'til it got to be second nature) and answer questions from supervisors and tons of other stuff.

I made my living in college writing a humor column (and other articles) for the college newspaper, in addition to being editor of the yearbook one year.

I was continually in trouble with the college's administration over it, too.

Well, I'm cheating a little here because I'm not interesting enough to have something that NOBODY here knows
I do have something that only one person here knows~~~~

I will shortly be saying "I Do" to my hubby for the second time - we are reaffirming our vows to celebrate our 25 wonderful years of marriage
I feel so happy that not only did he want to ask me once; but he did so again

Yes, Kreskin was fun! I was only in the 7th grade and he was performing at the local university. He picked me out of the audience (I was in the front row) thinking I was a college student since I was about 5'7" and looked mature.

He did a trick where a bunch of people had written facts on papers and then turned them in to him. He had me tell me what was on them--dates and such. He would list a bunch of things out loud and when he got to "the correct" answer, he'd give my hand a squeeze. I luckily caught on to his system very fast.

I remember how good my hand smelled after---he was BATHED in some kind of nice aftershave. LOL

Awwww, that is so sweet! My parents renewed their vows on their 25th as well and I bawled like a baby. Honestly, I think they fell in love all over again. When is the happy day? And, congrats on 25 years!

I'm trying to think of something I haven't shared here....hmmmm....give me a few minutes....

Remember Skylab? Remember when it fell out of orbit on July 11, 1979?

Well, my local newspaper held a contest where we predicted when it would enter the atmosphere and break up. They were giving cash prizes to first through third. This was the summer before Mike and I got married so I decided to enter the contest.

I prayed about it and wrote down the first time and day that popped into my mind. LOL I can't remember the time of day I put down. I do remember that a week or so after Skylab fell, my dad took a message from someone. Amazing that he got the number right since he had Alzheimer's. I called the number and got one of the editors for the paper.. I had won! Not only had I won, but I won first prize! $1000 since my mom was a subscriber! Not only that, I was 16 seconds off the official time!!!! I often said that since they didn't have it timed to the second, I most likely was right on the nose! That $1000 bought us a couch and helped pay for our honeymoon. Back in '79, $1000 was a lot of money! It still is to me... LOL

This is a really interesting and cool thread!

I was on $25,000 Pyramid in the 70's. I won $700. I played with George Hamilton. And I said on national TV that Mexico was the capital of Spain......duh.....
But I made it to the pyramid, where I ended up giving George the clues. We missed out on winning the whole thing, because he couldn't figure out I was giving him clues about "camping equipment". But it was great fun!

When I was 13, I won 1st place in an art contest out of approximately 10,000 entries. First prize was an all-expenses-paid vacation for my entire family which included air fare, rental car, all meals, amusement park tickets, hotel, and $1000 spending money.

I had entered the contest because I wanted the 2nd prize which was a bicycle.

I loved this one!

I was in a movie in the 90's, never mind the title, acting is not my forte. Also actress Bibi Besch is my cousin, her daughter is Samantha Mathis, more prominent actress.

When I was 5 years old I was eating a chocolate chip mint ice cream cone (my favorite) and I chomped on something crunchy, crispy, not a chocolate chip basically....I spit it out and it was a bug that flew into my ice cream! I screamed and cried and didn't eat my favorite ice cream till atleast 20 years later.
I was 28 and outside a local ice cream parlor after finally eating my favorite, mint chocolate chip. Talking to a friend of mine and scooped ice cream into my mouth, swirl and chomp down, something crunchy and just not right! I spit it out and a mouth had flown into my ice cream, again

This is a really interesting topic. Actress Rachel Ward starred in a movie that was filmed within walking distance of my home. I didn't meet her or anything, but I watch the movie every time it's on television, even though it's terrible. That was my closest brush with fame.
