When you mentioned 3.31's, I wondered if you meant the differential ratio.

As your husband probably knows, with that six speed, you have a very "deep" first gear, giving you, in effect, the much talked about 4.11's.

Color me jealous also. I would LOVE to have a Mustang, been nagging the hubby for about 3 years now. LOL! But I deliver the mail and we can't afford a third car. I use my practical Impala for that. But someday I really want a Mustang. Congrats on the new car....you made a good choice.

X Plan is offered through Ford Partners. We received a "PIN" number after joining Mustang Club of America. It gives you an added discount off the vehicle. We didn't really end up with a huge discount, as the dealer was already practically giving us the car at invoice. Took a couple hundred bucks off, so I guess we are still ahead since it only cost $50 to join MCA to get the PIN! If you go to the Ford Partners website it explains it more.

Sure am talking about the differential ratio.

Nero got to ride in the new car before his daddy even got to

Rob told people I slept in it
I haven't yet, but it was very tempting last night!! LOVE the new car smell ... it reminds me of when my mom bought her brand new car back in '99. So it's been ~11 years since I've been in a car with new car smell besides the Mustang we test drove!

Maybe going to take it to different locations today and get some pics of it. I want to take it by the Edisto River but there's a huge float going on today and I'd probably just end up with a bunch of people in the background instead of water!

Now, if it was mine, I'd be tempted to paint (powdercoat?) the spokes on the wheels and make them look like classic American mags.

Classic mags

We looked into powdercoating the spokes, but it was $120 ... per wheel! So $480.

We only paid $475 for all four wheels + 2 new front tires and 2 drag radials that came on them. So it's out for now, but maybe later on when we've had it for awhile and have some extra money for that.

Took the car to the track last night, couldn't resist putting some numbers on it once people started asking for races! Won all three races. The first one was a Pontiac GTP (supercharged V6). The second was an Impala SS (V8) the guy was not happy
But it was a VERY close race. I beat him by .05 seconds. The third was a Dodge Challenger RT, the V8 version with ~360hp vs the Mustang V6's 300hp. I walked all over that RT.

<-- Me vs RT video. A few RT owners got their feelings hurt by this

Took more pics today as well, you can see them in the Mustang album I linked earlier in the thread. Only uploaded some of them, but thought they were the better of the bunch.

For those that know about drag racing, it ran a 9.30 @ 79.16mph in the 1/8 mile. We don't have any close 1/4 mile tracks (have to get closer to the upstate, about 2 hour drive vs 20 min drive). Might try and hit Darlington Dragway for the Mustang week still.

Of course you know my hot rod would just walk away from yours, right?

Weighing only 2100 lbs is, of course, the secret.

I'm sure it would!
A lot of the cars that come out there could walk away from me! It was nice putting a little beating on some cocky racers there though
The guy with the Impala SS thought he had it in the bag, especially when he saw a girl racing. But I can bang gears better than the hubby. My reaction time is usually better as well. Fun times though, I race whether I'll win or lose because it's a nice little rush

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
HECK YEAHHHH!!!!! That is freaking AWESOME that you raced the 'stang!!!!

We race a camaro (not street legal though) at Numidia race track...Its so fun doing that stuff. For next summer BF is building himself a duster to use as a race car and said Ill be allowed to drive it. We would take the Nova which sounds EVIL but BF wicked skeezy b**ch step mother already called dibs on it...Ugh shes drives like a skeezy 80 yr old woman...the only emjoyment out of that is going to be watching her lose all the time, she doesnt even know how to operate the racing shifters we use in the automatic cars!!

Anyhoo enough ranting about her...CONGRATS on winning your races!! Woohoo

I LOVE drag racing
We're going to turn my 84 Camaro into more of a drag car than street car, but I would like it to still be street legal like my friend's 98 Trans Am. It runs low 6's (capable of high 5's if its tuned properly) in the 1/8mi. Turbo'd LS1 engine. Hubby is going to build a semi-auto shifter for the racing, 1. because it'll be faster, 2. we watched a video with a complete clutch explosion on a LS7 with massive amounts of power. The guy was lucky he didn't hack a leg off when the steel shot through the floorboard!

Cant wait to race it again, I'm sure once it gets the 1000mi for the break in on it, it might be pushing high 8s
I probably could have pulled a 9.2x out of it if I raced it again Sunday, but it was past my bedtime and I was eager to come home and put up the vids I took

Here's my new favorite picture I took yesterday (it's my FB profile pic now, and my desktop at work!):

I am green with envy! Green, I tell you! If I were ever to buy a Ford car, it would be a horse. Cherry-red. Love those Mustangs!

We are going to Darlington Dragway tomorrow for Mustang Week in Myrtle Beach
Gonna get some 1/4mi times. I haven't raced on a 1/4mi track since 2004, and that was in a friend's 17 second Honda Civic EX

I did autoX once with my Camaro, after a defensive driving school I went to at Lowe's Motor Speedway, it was definitely fun! Especially kicking the back end out around corners! A friend of mine autoX's his 03 Mustang GT. He prefers corners to a straight line
They both are definitely a rush!

Got an appointment to get the windows tinted before we head up to Darlington tomorrow

sounds fun! We have a few cobra's that race with us. I know there are some autox's in SC. Actually we usually go to one in SC but its at the Black Lake which is Michellins proving grounds. Lots of fun. I posted my autox pictures from this weekend earlier!
