My cat Kami is about 13 years old. I had her since the day she was born. Her mother was a stray I took in. I was just like 15 years old then.

She is the most stubborn cranky kitty most will ever meet lol. Her nickname is princess because she most definitely feels that she is lol. She is far too spoiled and even looks down at the other cats like they are beneath her lol. She even gets her own water glass because she won't drink out of the cat bowl and it makes it horribly unsafe for me to ever have a drink because she will drink out of it lol But at the same time can be the sweetest angel in the world who loves to give kisses forever.

But for a bit now she has been not doing so well. She is so skinny and her fur is a mess. She looks like a stray! and now she keeps having her tongue hanging out of her mouth and drooling even. Which is not like her at all ever.

We just moved and money is tight because of that. Looking online it might be a tooth problem.

My grandmother just passed away this last month as well as my pet bird that I have had forever. I knew it was coming with both of them but it just has me a mess. and I have the same feeling about my Kami and I do not handle stress well at all so I am this huge mess just crying all the time.

I am afraid to try and check her out myself because I just don't want to stress her out. I am almost afraid to touch her. She has always hated being picked up or held.

I have had her so long in my life and I can't imagine her not in it. She is my kitty soul mate lol Everyone would joke that she was so snobby and hated people and bitchy but she always loved me. Whenever I was sad she would be there to comfort me and even kiss away my tears.

I am looking in my area today for a vet. Hoping I can find a nice one. and I know probably all vets are different but if anyone could give me an idea on prices for dental problems? Hopefully we have enough saved up to cover it.

Thanks so much.

You need to get a senior panel.
That sounds like it might be a kidney problem.
You just described what my Stormy did right before I lost her to arf.
It may not be a tooth problem.
I have a very sick cat with CRF right now also.
Prices are different each area.

Prices can vary a lot. In my area, an exam is $30-$50 or so, bloodwork (senior panel) is anywhere from $75-$140, and a dental cleaning/tooth removal is around $250-$350 (that includes bloodwork, which all the vets I've talked to require before putting a senior cat under anesthesia).
I hope this gives you an idea of what to expect.
If nothing else, a simple physical exam should not be too expensive, and is the first step to finding out what's wrong with your cat.
