As Neko is sleeping on my tummy she has whimpered, mouth twitching, paw kicking, etc. What is this little girl dreaming about? Right now her two front paws are moving like crazy; not even my typing is waking her up

Maybe she's chasing a bird or one of the betta fish is on the loose, lol. What do you think your kitties dream about?

They're so cute when they're sleeping!

My crew are not much into dreaming. When they're asleep belly up and mouth slightly opened, I know they're out. Most of the time though they'll wake up from a noise or gust of wind.

I know mine are asleep when they finally stop purring or they twitch or snore ^^
I think they're chasing things, like shadows and bits of string like they do when they're awake.

Yeah, I think Bella dreams of chasing birds and insects and playing with string while on catnip. We dream of our cats sometimes, do you think we're ever in their dreams?

Playing with Jazzy & Ginga.
Ginga stops purring when she goes to sleep. She's usually under my bed covers so I don't see her when she's sleep a lot. I think she dreams of hunting, Jazzy runs when she dreams. She moves all her paws, it's so cute!

I think we are in their dreams. Maybe just as background characters. I'm not sure. They DO love to chatter and talk in their sleep. I love sleeping kitties, so cute!

Interesting! I wonder if i'm in her dreams. Probably giving her lots of greenies or playing chase with her in the apt. I bet she can jump the highest jumps in her dreams

That is too cute! But you have to wonder... do they only dream what they've seen? Must be so; Neko's never seen a rabbit! Maybe hers are moon squirrels

I do not know what cats typically dream about but I suspect that Precious frequently dreams about the toy mice she is so obsessed with and about the birds she watches out the window.

Hmmmmm...interesting. I guess it could be just anything that happens to them in the real world.

Ku Ku often snores really loud, talks in her sleep(a lot!), also moves her paws around as if chasing something(in her dream, of course). Another thing I noticed a lot about Ku Ku while she's sleeping is that, she also seems to have a nightmare, too...she growls, howls(yes), hisses...
When I see her doing it while sleeping, I usually pat her very very gently.
As soon as I do that, she'd be back to calm & peaceful zzz.

they get a bowl full of treats at all meal times in dream land!

Have any of your cats been in such deep sleep that not even your movement will wake them up. Neko lays next to me at bedtime and sometimes on her back. Right in between the bf and me
Once she was in such a deep sleep... I rolled over, nothing, so i nudged her, nothing. This about scared the * out of me!! I actually got up out of bed in fear that maybe one of us squished her and then she jumps up out of her deep sleep. This has happened 2x

Utu sometimes meows in his sleep. He started doing it when he was already an adult. The first time he did it he scared the heck out of me and Kuura.
He usually doesn't sound like his normal self at all when doing it, so the other cats are always wondering what is going on. I even think he has nightmares, at least it sounds like that sometimes and he wakes up being a bit upset but will calm down quickly when he notices it was only a dream. I have no ideas what he could be dreaming of, nothing bad has never happened to him (unless you count few catfights in).
The orhers may just move their paws ,tails ,whiskers and lips a little, but Utu takes it all to a new level. He also snores a bit sometimes if he's in very deep sleep, so does Luna. He even eats and drinks in his sleep (simulating it). Oh, and Tomu once had his fur standing up like he got scared, when he was sleeping, then it went back to normal, and then he fluffed up again, it was weird.

I had heard all of my life and observed dogs doing this but it was not until I got Persi that I actually witnessed a cat doing this. His front paws get going just like you describe and he can only be dreaming about chasing something. More proof that cats are more like us than most people can imagine.

I don't know but my Majel kitty has horrific nightmares... I feel bad for her. Wish I could make them go away.
She comes screaming - she has no volume control - every time she wakes up from a bad one and comes to find us. Poor angel.

First I need to explain Sweetie is a former rescue who wasn't neutered until he was about 2 years old.

One night I was watching him and noticed his ears starting to twitch, so I knew he was asleep. Suddenly he started making these low threatening noises that toms always make when they're about to get into a big fight. I waited to see what would happen next, and then he suddenly woke up and went and hid under the couch for a short time. So maybe he wasn't sure the other cat wasn't really there for the first few minutes.

Sorry your kitty has nightmares; poor baby! Hope they go away. I wonder if some aroma therapy would work or if it would be to strong for her nose?

Must have been a very realistic dream. Sometimes i think to myself "Did that really happen or did i dream it?"

I haven't often seen my cats do anything more dramatic in their sleep than snoring, some paw flexing or some whisker twitching. But last week I saw my little Snickers asleep on her side and she went into a full gallop, all four legs going like mad. It only lasted about four seconds and she remained asleep. It was hilarious!
