Mel Gibson riding the Crazy Train (again)

What exactly is his problem? Brain damage maybe? I should have seen this coming. He's got "crazy eyes" even back in the 80's

Yeah. I think the title of this thread is accurate - it's spooky hearing that voice of his.

I wonder if he's bi-polar? I'd be curious what his former wife (the one he was with for such a long time) has to say about this. Why did she stay with him for so long if he was this nutso?

It's really odd, though, that her voice sounds so calm and sort of emotionless on these "tapes". Almost as if she's egging him on, or what she was saying was inserted - post-tirade. It's weird.

That is what I noticed. Her voice was so calm. Of course, she knew she was recording what he was saying so maybe it was intentionally. The calmer she was the more hysterical he got. I thought he was having a breakdown. Was he always like this? I don't think a person just wakes up one morning and has all that rage. It's a build up over time. And you don't just wake up one morning and hate Jews, Blacks, and women! He's got issues His career should be over after this. Hitting a woman is wrong. Hitting a woman while she's holding a baby is not forgiveable.

He is demented. The tapes are disgusting. He should be ashamed of himself.

Even if she was purposely taping him admitting to physically hitting her and threatening her life, he is CRAZY!!!! If this was anything other then the obvious, we would have heard the explanations from his legal defense by now. On top of being physically violent, he is racist! He deserves to loose his career, and everything he has gained in the process of manipulating the audience who gave him what he has today.....

IMO, he deserved to lose his career years ago when he made Passion of the Christ. Even then he was spewing anti-semitic claptrap. When I read the ridiculous remarks he was making at the time (such as his wife, although he said she was the better person, would not go to heaven because she did not subscribe to his skewed version of Catholicism), I swore then and there that he would never earn a dime off of me. I've kept to that. I never saw The Passion, or anything else of his. Although considering the critical reviews of the Passion, and Apocalypto, I haven't missed much.

He's been given several chances with the public, but now people can finally see who he really is...an ugly, hateful, violent person. I really don't care what happens to him...he's been theoretically dead to me for years.

My cat's smart. I found the audio and started playing it. Abbey was terrified!!

Mel Gibson is a freak! I didn't listen to the whole thing though, poor Abbey is too scared!

Now I'm muting the TV or turning the channel - all the morning shows are playing these tapes, and there seems to be a new one everyday. The vile crap coming out of his mouth makes me sick to my stomach and hurts my ears.

Sick freak.

Here is a guy who had the world. He could have made the choice to do good. Be someone who people admired for good things he has done. Danny Thomas comes to mind for St. Judes.

Kevin Costner comes to mind, with his ventures into environmental clean up.

Elizabeth Taylor, for AIDs research.

Mary Tyler Moore for Juvinille Diabetes.

Betty White for animals.

Then there is Mel. Squandered what good fortune he was blessed to have. What a waste.

I'm not posting this to counter what you wrote, as I don't know much of Gibson's history. I merely found your post thought-provoking, became curious, and google-searched.

Looks as though he actually has donated quite a bit to various charities; so maybe the tragedy then becomes that in lieu of all that he has done for society, it is these sorts of maniacal outburst that will be his legacy.

Very sad.

He sounds like a maniac, and maybe because I've only ever heard him speak in his movies, I get the feeling like it's all an act, like he doesn't really mean any of it...shouldn't he have an Australian accent anyway??? he didn't sound like he's Australian in those recordings..
I've always had respect for him even after the racist and anti semitic outbursts, because I had a hard time believing it all, and I kind of still have a hard time taking this situation seriously.

Yes, he's an idiot for saying the things he has said and behaving the way he is.

However, so is she!

She taped him and she is releasing the tapes. What does that say about her? Gold digger!!! Rather than dealing with this situation quietly and retaining a lawyer to file for divorce, she tapes him and makes the tapes public in order to garner public sympathy to get more money.

I have no respect for women like that.

This is what happens when people live in a bottle.

It has been known for a long time that he has a big drink problem.
