I am so sorry about Coco. I know how painfull it is to see our pets go down hill. I just had to put my twelve year old doberman to sleep yesterday and it has left my family heart broken. We loved and cared for her till the end which gives me some peace. It sounds like you have done so much for Coco and I am sure she knows how much you love her.

Thanks Everyone,
I just got her to eat a little of their food but she will not touch her food at all.
Sorry about the dog.

At this point, let her eat whatever she wants. Anything is better than nothing, and especially in their final days, I say let them at least eat what tastes good to them.

Sven, my kidney cat, eats mainly Temptations. It's about the only thing he'll eat now, and we figure it's quality of life vs quantity. I feed him small handfulls several times a day, and if he doesn't eat them, I follow him around with them until he finally relents and eats them, because he knows I won't leave him alone until he at least eats what I have in my hand. (I always have his kidney food out for him, but haven't seem him eating it for awhile now...have seen all the other cats eating it, but not him)

I sure hope Coco is doing a little better today

I have one cat Squeak who loves Temptations and will do tricks for her treats! Dusty won't touch them. Dusty is my CRF cat, and she is actually getting better. I think her ear infection really took its toll. But she's eating more now and gaining a little weight and strength. I know she will never be well, but I guess she has a few more months.

I'm sorry to hear Coco isn't doing well. I'm sure you will know when it is time to say goodbye.

I'm so glad Dusty is doing better! Was she on antibiotics with her ear infection? Whenever Sven is on antibiotics, we think he's on death's door because he gets so sick from them, and nothing seems to help. We thought we were losing him in April, but he's doing ok now, holding his weight steady with his Temptation, and they say they are 100% nutritionally complete, unlike other treats.

Now, if Coco will just start improving!!

The first time I took Dusty in for the ear infection, the vet put her on an ear wash and Animax ointment. This didn't make her better, so at the end of the 10 day treatment, I take her back and the vet says her ears are totally closed so he can't see inside. He puts her on Tresaderm drops and Prednisone. We wait another 10 days and then he sedates her to draw blood, dental and examine her ears which have now improved greatly. But she is acting so bad when I pick her up that I call the vet again the next day and take her back in. She has lost lots of weight, isn't grooming, and looks like she is on death's doorway. They give her fluids and prescribe a pill to stimulate her appetite. It seems to work, and she starts eating. Now it's been a little over a month since her last vet visit, and she has regained much of her strength and appetite, and appears to have gained some weight. I know that she will never be completely healthy, but I honestly thought I was going to have to put her out of her misery. Now she's almost normal, but she is going bald around her neck and behind her ears.

Now I have another problem. Someone has been peeing and pooping in inappropriate areas, and I haven't caught the culprit in the act, so I don't know if it is Dusty or Squeak. One or both of them is using my bath rugs! Is there a spray that keeps cats away from rugs?

Thanks for your kind thoughts about Dusty.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack Coco's thread. We are all hoping she perks up and gets better.
