I have heard the word spraggly used to describe plants. I cannot find this word in the dictionary and have tried various spellings such as spragly, spragily, and spraggily. Is this even a word and if so, what is the proper spelling? Also, what does the word mean?

Are you sure it's not the word straggly? The word (according to my dictionary) means: growing or spreading sparsely or irregularly

I don't think it's an official word. It's probably slang, combining the word "straggly" with something else.
I've heard "scraggly" but I don't if that's a word either! But never "spraggly".
