Apparently, I don't.

I didn't sleep well last night. I was up at 4 am and couldn't get back to sleep. I thought that I would take a nap this afternoon, but nope. I finally did fall asleep late afternoon.

I woke up at 8:00 o'clock, looked outside and it looked like a cloudy morning, common here with the fog. So, I made myself breakfast of a bowl of Cherrios. All of a sudden I realized it was 8 pm. Well, so I had cereal for dinner.

` I've done that!

One time I woke up and saw that I had slept in. I frantically got ready for work, caught the next bus and then because I had missed the last connecting bus to where I worked, had to take a taxi part of the way. I did manage to get to work on time, but just barely. I thought it strange that I was the first one there because usually the shipper was. So I let used my key and let myself in. I was working away and 1/2 hour passed and still no one else came. I called the manager at home and asked where everyone was. Colour me surprised when he told me that it was Saturday!!!!

Another time I showed up at the hospital for my scheduled night shift, only to find that there was no assignment left for me. I called the nursing supervisor who after checking the schedule informed me that I was on vacation!
However, seeing that I was already there and dressed for work, and they were short staffed.....I ended up working a 12 hour night shift

More than once, I have dozed off in front of the tv on a winter evening, then woke with a start and the horrible feeling I didn't do chores. I will get up, dash to the basement, and look and find feed pails with dry beet pulp, waiting for the next meal's soaking. SUmmer isn't quite so bad since the horses are out almost every night.

I've done that, too. When I was working a swing-shift and if I was on third shift, I'd wake up at, say 6:00 at night. But in the winter, it's dark at 6:00. So I'd lie there and try to figure out if it was 6:00 in the morning or 6:00 at night.

Several times when I was working day shift, I'd wake up at 5:00 on Saturday morning (my first off-day after working day shift), grab a shower and dress for work.....only to have my DH wake up and tell me to go back to bed....it was Saturday!

When you work a seven-day swing-shift, you sometimes get to the point where you have no idea what day it is or whether it's morning or evening. It really got screwy.
