Hi, I posted here a year ago when I took on 3 ferals with the intent of taming and then adopting them out. Since I was brand new to the job? culture? I sought out opinions from where ever I could find them. I tamed one, the most loving critter I've ever had, and then, after weeks of trying, I gave up on the two girls. They continued to treat me like I was the boogie man.

One year later I get a Da Bird toy. One of my ferals, little Stella, is so in love with that darn toy that she has transformed herself into a tame cat in her quest to get me to pull it out of the closet and play with her. And she gets so tired out from playing with it that I am able to pick her up and hug her and kiss her. At first she was disgusted and pushed off as soon as she regained her breath. Then she stopped objecting. Now she greets me at the door when I come home and waits for me to pick her up and kiss her. Da Bird. A $10 toy.

Now if only I could get through to the autistic siamese feral whose only joy is biting my toes through the comforter on my bed. She doesn't play with the other cats or their toys. All that interests her is an old severed tail off of a worn-out stuffed toy mouse that she carries around everywhere while wailing. Any other miracle toys out there?

Uncomfortable as it may be, it is in fact a positive signal. So for example, our younger cat the son, while kitten, did bitten on his big kind fathers tail when the father was asleep.

So it isnt mischef nor meaniness. It is a form of kittenlike playfullness, an interaction between a young and a grown up friend.

There must be a way. Easier now as both of these ex-ferales are now your friend, and she does observe it.

So, something to change the daily routine, to introduce a break off-
The old trick of Feliway-diffuser?
Another trick is nice, calm music - harp music is best, but any calm music is OK...

Btw. Did you talk a lot? a sort of soft baby talk? Like friendly tomcats would do when courting??

as a beginning for ideas....
Lets fill in!

Tx for helping these, and good luck!

thanks for your response StefanZ

I already have the Feliway working for me but I could try talking to her more. She's such a misfit but she does approach me when I talk to her, and then she bolts away. I'll try the soft talking and let you know.
