Hi,
I am new here, never thought to join a cat forum until someone else mentioned it to me, so here I am.
Some renters next to me moved off and left 2 cats, one was very old and sick and had to be put to sleep. Her original owner died and she left her cats to these people and this is what they did to them, it just breaks my heart.
I can not keep her, but have had her for almost 3 mths now. I live in a very small town and the only two rescues here do not take cats. I have called all other rescues that I could find online within a 50 miles radius and so far no one will help me. One rescue lady did let me bring her up to Petco for a weekend to see if we could get her a home but no takers.
She is an older cat, I think around 10. The renters that left her are relatives to a couple that live further down the street so I was able to get that info and that she is spayed. Other than that I don't know much else.
She is super sweet, smart and adapts very easily to new surroundings. She is has always lived indoors, but due to my dogs she has been having to live outdoors. I know that must have been stressful for her, but she adjusted well. I live in Texas and it is very hot here now so I bring her in during the hottest part of the day and lock her up in a back bedroom. I have also been letting her sleep in there the last few nights as she got ill. She must have had a hairball and could't get it up. I did't think she was going to make it, but this morning we turned a corner and she finally ate and drank on her on for the first time since Thurs. I had been forcing water, pedialyte, laxatone and Nutri Cal into her for days and I guess it worked. I was so relieved to see she is better today.
I had an appt for her to go to the SPCA but then her owners showed up one night and said they wanted her back. They were down visiting their relatives and told me they would stop buy Monday morning on their way out and pick her up, well they didn't. I don't know much about the SPCA though and not sure if they will really try to adopt her out at her age or just put her down, so I never rescheduled again to take her there.
If anyone can help me find her a no kill rescue or home/foster home to go into to I would be forever grateful. Overall she appears very healthy and has a great temperament and even still plays some. I have gotten attached to her and she just really deserves a great home and would make someone looking for an older cat a great companion.
