This afternoon I am off to the vet to have 2 of my cats tested for Polycystic Kidney Disease. 2 months ago my 2 year old cat died suddenly from what was suspected HCM (which he has obviously gone undiagnosed for until right before he died). He also had PKD, although that isn't what ultimately killed him. I'm going to have to see a cardiologist to have them tested for HCM, but PKD can be seen on a ultrasound so I am terrified of this appointment today. I think that Oreo and Sheena might be related to the cat that I lost 2 months ago, so if they are, I am hoping that they will be the small percentage that won't be affected by either PKD and/or HCM.
They aren't showing any symptoms of either disease and by all accounts seem to be perfectly healthy...but so did Meepers until 2 weeks before he died. It didn't even cross my mind until about 2 weeks ago that they all might be related, but now that it has, I'm worried sick about them.
So if you could pass on some good vibes, prayers, thoughts or anything positive my way I would really, really appreciate it!
