My youngest daughter's former foster parents are visiting. They had her until she was 26 months when we adopted her. Foster Mom has visited before never had a problem. She brought her husband this time, He never stops whining and complaining. Yesterday Jim cooked them pancakes and bacon for breakfast. He gave Jim heck all day yesterday for feeding him bacon. Apparently he has stomach issues. Every few minutes he would say " why did you feed me bacon now I am sick" We have tried to show take them to fun places, but we can't get out the door. His wife has to nag him to shave, dress, put on his shoes. We are all ready outside waiting. He suddenly decides to change clothes. it took an hour an a half for him to get ready. Jim just phoned he has decided to work double shifts so he can get away from Don. My kids are miserable. They are staying until friday. I adore foster Mom and the 5 month old baby girl , but I want to strangle Don.

ick how dreadful! Lots of vibes for the strength and patience to deal with this diffcult man until Friday!!

I would also say to try and focus on the good, the wife and the baby and ignore Don.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I let out a good scream for you...I have a tendancy to feel the same way you do after my mom visits, between the nagging and complaining I want to rip my hair out by individual strands. Kind of goes along her lines of complaining because I dont get my eyebrows waxes..really who complains about that you dont like it dont look at me i tweeze them just fine on my own

Wow, did your DH shove the bacon down his throat? If not, I'm pretty sure it's not his fault, in fact it was nice of him to make them a nice breakfast! I hate people who blame their problems on other people!

Yoiks! He sounds like a real catch.
Deep breaths and lots of patience till you get rid of him on Friday - assuming you can get him out the door. Might take a few hours. Hey, you could always chase him out by threatening him with another bacon breakfast!
I'm glad that the former foster mom is so nice at least!

Wow hun, you have more patience than I do.
I would have said "If you don't like what I prepare food wise, feel free to go out, buy and prepare your own. If you don't want to do so, there's the door."

First of all it's nice that you let them continue to be part of your daughter's life. A lot of people wouldn't allow that, or want that for that matter.

Also, the next time they want to come visit, arrange for them to stay in a nice motel near you. There is no reason they have to impose on you and your family.

That sounds like such a pain. How could someone complain that someone cooked something THEY ate!
It sounds like you might have to take a few outings leaving Don home. lol

Try to counter every negative he says with a positive and see if that doesnt make him stop and think.
And if he's not ready to go when you are (and you don't want to leave him home) go grab his arm and tell him "you are fine the way you are, come on we are ready to leave, lets go".

. Foster Mom is not feeling well so she has been in bed all day. Don ( thank god) went out for a 4 hour walk. So I made roast beef supper and homemade cheesecake and blueberry sauce for supper. All of course with a 5 month old baby in my arms. I forgot how good I could multi task
Don is still whining about everything but I had fun with baby
