Problem while Searching

While searching here on TCS, I got an error. It said:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 113246208 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in home\\tcs\\public_html\\forums\\search.php on line 1008.

I tried a few times, it still happens. I don't know if it's just me.

I will report it to the admins. In the meantime, can you let us know what browser you are using? Also, try clearing the cache out for your browser.

I use Firefox 3.6.6. I always clean the cache out, I do it everyday after using the internet.

What are the words you are searching for? I did a few searches and had no problem. I think in some cases if teh word is too common, you could get an error.

Many don't know this but there's also a Google-based alternative way to search within TCS.

Here's an example. Go to Google and type this exactly as you see it:
"best litter" site:thecatsite.com

Make sure the colon after the word site: is there. Without the colon, it won't work. Quote marks are helpful but not necessary. They are more helpful when you know what you're looking for. Here's what Google will return in the above example. Click here. As you can see, only links from TCS are returned!

Any website can follow the site: command. If you want to search in CNN or the Huffington Post, you would type

whatever whatever site:cnn.com

whatever whatever "Sarah Palin" site:huffingtonpost.com

vegetable casserole site:dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com

Combining quote-marked with plain search terms is allowed, as seen in the Huffington example.

P.S.
I wanna share with my fellow Americans something odd and cool. You can see if your State knows about money owed to you (unclaimed funds) by typing the following into Google:

last name first name site:osc.state.ny.us

Right now my State does not know of any money that's owed to me Anyway, it's just another example of the command method, also called Advanced Search. I love it.

Well, I searched "cat giving cat love bites" because Ginga seems to bite Jazzy after they touch noses. C1atsite, I'll try your method ;]

Thanks for reporting this. I'm not aware of any current memory allocations issues, but will forward the question to our tech support. I'll let you know what they come up with.

Can you please try running a search now? Looks like it may had something to do with the PHP memory allocation and our admin has raised the limit just now.
