Moo keeps eating my oatmeal!

Every morning I have a bowl of oatmeal with agave nectar, walnuts and berries. and everyday the minute I put the bowl down on the table Moo runs over and starts to lick it. This morning i noticed that Tilly is now after my oatmeal as well. Is this normal? and why do they do it? they have only started to eat my oatmeal when I changed the way I prepare it (they wouldnt touch the old way I did it)

ALSO is it harmful to them? Usually I can swat them away but sometimes they sneak up when I get distracted by a phone call and they swarm on the oatmeal so they do end up eating a bit of it.

What can I do? I eat my breakfast AFTER I feed them.

any advice?

Walnuts can be toxic to cats. I don't know about the other things you add, the oatmeal itself is fine and often used in "high end" cat foods

The way to prevent it is to keep it away from them.

they avoid the nuts. I think they really liek the Agave nector because it is sweet. and I do try to keep it from them. but if I put it up the counters moo just hops up after it.

Maybe i should just take my breakfast and eat it outside.

When I first adopted Holland, she would bug the heck out of me when I was eating, trying to steal things off my plate. I finally started shutting her in the bathroom (where her litter box was) while I ate. I'd let her out right after I was done, and she soon enough learned...
