I am trying to keep myself busy since yesterday. We need to do some work in here. It can wait but I am trying to keep busy and looking for ideas.

The litter pans are in the laundry room which was the garage. There is a 5x8ft rug that I have to replace. What type of fabric/weave should I look for? I need something that is easy to vacuum b/c of the litter. The walls are gray but that might change. I am more interested in color that will mask the dirt than match the room.

The other room is the basement/family room. It's not plush rugs. Not sure if they are indoor/outdoor or industrial. We have cream couches and the walls are sour cream(white as DH says). We have light to dark wood items in the room. I think when we get a new coffee table and end tables they will be medium wood. The french door frame is medium wood. I wonder if the tile under the small padding will have to come up b/c of the years of pee. I hope not b/c that's a HUGE project and hoping for a one day job. The tile is on the cement and then small padding and this ugly rug. Just not sure what kind or color to go with. We might have to lug a lawnmower through this room in the future. Our neighbor handles both yards but they have plans to move in a few years.

I would love to hear some of your color ideas.

Well in the laundry room, I would go with litter grey. Honestly, if you got a darker color, you would see every little speck of tracking. You are talking about area rugs, right? With animals, it is the only way to go IMO.

I have told my DH that if we ever get more rugs, we just have one at one end of the living room, they will be indoor/outdoor and the color of the cat food. That way, if Beeba vomits....the stain wont show. I know it sounds gross, but when you have lived with animals as long as I have, and had a beige rug and a brown stain from cat puke, well you do what you can!

Indoor/outdoor has come a long way. There are beautiful outdoor rugs that I would have in my house in a minute. Just roll them up and spray them off outside.

Sissal is nice too.

What is Sissal? I saw that in a search. We would do wall to wall in the basement/living area and stairs. The laundry room would get an area rug. I saw this gray striped at Kmart and I am kicking myself for not getting it. DH wants to go back tonight to search for it.
