Dead Kittens need advice for the queen

My young cat, only 7 months old fell pregnant before I got her, however never having a cat that has not been spayed before, I was unaware of the fact. 48 hrs ago she had a litter of 4 including one still born. Took her to the vet due to still having contractions 5hrs after last kitten was born, he said she was fine how ever that the kittens were weak and a little premature, she did not have any milk so i was hand feeding the remaining kittens, she was nursing them well getting them to poo cleaning them ect, however they have all sadly died over the last 48hrs. I am now worried that she will get masitus (not sure if correct spelling) as her milk is now coming in. Any help please?

Many thanks

It is very important that if you suspect this that you take her to the Vet. It is a medical emergency.
It is a possibility that is the reason why her babies passed away.

Here is some info for you to know if she is developing it.

She also may do some grieving since she lost her babies. So give her extra attention, love and comfort.

Cats can go into heat very soon after birth, so do not let her outside for any reason. The vet can spay her now.

I'm sorry about the kittens.

Check with your vet - I believe there is a shot where it will dry up the milk - then plan on getting her spayed quickly. I'm sorry for the loss of the kittens.

Agree. Contact this vet. Especielly as you did already were to this vet. A follow up is always easier than the first visit... You and the mom are already his clients.

Premature kittens are always a uphill fight. There dont need to be much extra for them to wander on...

Good luck!

Sorry you lost all the kittens.
I would call the vet again.

I know with human babies unless you want to dry up while you have mastitis keep nursing and it won't hurt the baby. Like I said I know this is true for humans, not sure about cats. Also, with humans, she should just dry up normally and it shouldn't cause mastitis unless there are other issues.

Like I said I know this is humans not cats so I'm not sure if it's the same.
