Touchy feely NASA

I am so glad NASA finally has a worthwhile objective. No more going into space, no more discovery.

Yes, they will be helping Muslim countries "feel better" about their contributions to math and science..

Thank goodness, finally a goal they can be proud of.

They needed an objective they could afford.

In a nutshell,

That is the most ridiculous they have done lately. If we no longer need NASA for space exploration, disband it and use the many, many tax dollars for something that is worthwhile. Maybe fixing health care or how about education of our own citizens, or God forbid, keeping out people that don't belong here. We really do not have the money to make Muslim nations feel good about themselves. Not only that, but it is just not our job to do so.

Stupid.

I don't believe the Muslim countries need any help in helping themselves feel better about their contributions to math and science since it was the Muslims that helped to preserve things like math, science, geography, and philosophy after Europe fell into the period known as the "Dark Ages" with the decline and collapse of the Western Roman Empire. I'm sure they understand their own history and role better than "we" do.

For the record, in 2000, de-funding NASA entirely and putting that money into education would have amounted to about $175 per student (NASA budget, number of students). That amount of money would never make it into the classroom; federal and state bureaucracy would absorb it. The NASA budget is more valuable to schools by funding NASA, which already provides classroom resources, such as lesson plans and educational videos, and gives students a career-related reason to study math and science.

Let's hope then they don't change their budget. It is absurd for NASA to do anything to promote Muslim countries feeling better about themselves. Another poster even stated that Muslims don't need our help to feel good about themselves.

I wonder more and more about this administration. Things I never thought possible are now seemingly possible.

Did you know that NASA is financially self-sustaining and not-for-profit? They can't even advertise, but we've all see the many benefits NASA has brought to our world, whether we realize it or not: benefits to our health, medicines, aviation, weather radar, etc.

Technology transfer is the process by which inventions and practices that were developed at an organization flow into the American economy at large. NASA is required by law to share its discoveries and inventions as widely as possible. For instance, devices that were designed to keep track of the astronauts' health while in space are now used in hospitals to monitor patients.

Obama is shutting down NASA in Houston, I believe it's happening this Fall. The scientists there are moving out, many to other countries which is a great loss to the U.S. Not only will many NASA employees be out of work, but also the multitudes in the many companies that NASA contracts out to.

NASA should be more concerned about space then making friends with the world. Of all the stupid things that Obama has come up with - I think this takes the cake (for the time being)!

Oh, and since Obama has canceled NASA's next moon mission, guess which country is going to be landing there now to claim the moon as its own?

China.

Unless this Bolden is unhinged, why would he say such an outrageous thing?

Sounds like the White House trying to wiggle out of this mess.

Bolden got thrown under the shuttle.

Yup......And it's getting crowded there.
