So every year I have to drug poor Mandarin with valium once fireworks season is upon us, or else he will throw himself at the windows, growling, trying to get at them, and then shake uncontrollably. Don't like giving him valium. It makes him hallucinate when he's coming down and paw the walls and stumble around falling everywhere, drunk. And not in a cute way, in a way that's just ... disturbing.
Last night fireworks were so bad from the neighbours they were shaking our apartment. Mandarin hid until they were done and came running up to me and Wally. "MOMMY DADDY HOLD ME!! LOVE ME!!!!" Then they'd start again and he'd go in hiding and start again.
My husband was not impressed. He would just rather the cat hide the whole time or be normal - or as normal as Mandarin can be - but I was SUPER impressed. So I went out to the couch and left the bed for Wally and MANDARIN didn't complain anymore about the fireworks!!!!!
