Hi everyone. First of, I've never had a cat in my life, so I really don't have much knowledge about cat behaviour. So, onto my dillema:
Last weekend, I was at my boyfriend's country house when his father found a small kitty, almost lifeless, with both eyes closed with some weird yellow fungus. I cleaned her gently, and one of her eyes opened, but the other kept releasing the weird liquid.
She would not eat anything, not even drink cat milk. We stayed for the weekend and on Monday I took her to the vet. The vet kept her for the day, she was very very weak and ill. Her eye was lost, she will never be able to see from that one, but the other one is just fine. Now, we took turns this week to keep her, so we could give her the antibiotics, but none of us can keep the kitty much longer. I have a dog, and my boyfriend has a very unsocial cat, and both our parents are not willing to let us keep her. She is in very good shape right now.
I thought about giving her up to an animal shelter, but I'm afraid no one will take a cat with only one eye.
The other solution would be to keep her in my bf's country house. But that would mean she would have to sleep alone in the house and spend most of the time by herself. We can go everyday and give her food and spend sometime with her, but I'm afraid she'll get lonely. Still, it's better then letting her die
I might be moving out by October, and if so, I could take her with me, but the move is not set in stone.. What is our best option? I want her to have a chance to live a nice life, but I don't know what to do. She is about 2 months old. Please help.

You could try to find her a home, can't you? Ask everyone you know whether they know anyone who's looking for a kitten. You can advertise on various sites for free; some rescues might be willing to put a courtesy listing on their sites for her as well.

Otherwise, keeping her in the country house is most definitely better than letting her die - as long as you and your boyfriend are able to visit and feed her each day. That could also give you more time to find her another home, if that's what you want to do.

Where are you? Shoot me a PM and I will see if I have any kitty angels in your area that might take this little one. If you run into questions www.kitten-rescue.com might help you

Advertise on sites like petfinder, call any local animal places, ask all your friends/family..and in the meantime, keep the kitty in the country house and feed/play with her as much as possible. If you can, get her a few toys to play with while she is alone.
Dont automatically rule her out as being adoptable...I just adopted a kitty that is completely blind. He is so smart and my husband and i love him...so there is very possibly someone out there for your kitty.

Unless you know a non-profit group who will let you run a courtesy ad- Petfinders isn't an option. If you use Craigslist, be sure and ask for a rehoming fee of at least $15.00

Oops sorry for the misinformation! As far as I knew, people used to be able to place ads on petfinder, I didn't realize it changed! Thanks

Also, for Craigslist, another option is delivering the kitten to the person so you can check out their home to see if it would be a good fit, and exchange a few emails etc about their history with animals/what kind of animals they own. My husband found a home for a kitty last year on Craigslist and we delivered it to the person, spent about 30 minutes helping the kitten adjust, and received updates from them about the kitten. We gave them the kitten for free, and offered to take him back if they had any issues...and if you don't feel like the person will take care of the kitten properly, it is never to late to change your mind.
