Lucia has gone through some color change!
Before

Now

Gael (HM) hiding in his cave

Showing me his moves

Rico (VT), hard to photo this boy

Update on the divided tank: Had to switch Rico and Lucia so that Rico is now on the end of the tank. Added an extra divider (so 2dividers touching) to help block view of his neighbor. Rico is just a little to agreesive; blew out his fins 2x in the middle. He's doing much better on the end and the double divider helps block his view of Lucia. Healing up nicely too and building extra big bubblenests!

I'll keep an eye on her, but she is eating and swimming around normally. No clamped fins and usually near the top.
Yeah my HM is the sweet shy boy. Hides behind plants or in his cave and makes his rounds to check that his territory is secure. Flare at his reflection... then back to hiding.

Your bettas are so beautiful
. And, I'm majorly jealous of your divided tank!

Lucia is so gorgeous. I love female bettas and now that I have a very empty 40 gallon tank, I am considering a sorority tank. It will be a long-term project as I can't see putting out as much money as would be necessary to get the tank up and ready by the end of the summer, but it's definitely a goal (unless a new foster comes my way before then). Your HM, Gael, is absolutely stunning and I love your VT, Rico, as well. I currently have a VT and a crown tail (one in a 5.5 gallon and the other in a 2.5 gallon). I love my bettas, but can never get decent pictures of them. And, while I'd love to have a planted tank in the future, I just don't know if I have it in me. But, you never know. This site is always inspiring me one way or another.

Thank you for sharing pics of your bettas. I've been wondering how they've been getting on. And, despite the minor issue with your VT, it sounds like things have been going well. Please continue to share stories and pictures of your bettas -- I so enjoy reading about them!

Your babies are absolutely STUNNING!

My Cervantes was dead when I woke up this morning.
I'm sure sometime soon I'll find a new little betta friend. They really are addictive.

Thank you for the compliments! A sorority tank is my new dream tank!! You want lots of hiding places and tall plants, fake or real, so that they still have their territory and protection even when going up for air. There are some great tips here: http://www.ultimatebettas.com/index.php?showtopic=12193
Real plants aren't that hard either!! Very fun and pretty! They also help absorb nitrates in an established, cycled tank!!
For you and anyone else who wants to venture in low light low tech planted tanks: http://www.ultimatebettas.com/index.php?showtopic=24656

We do. So first i just thought it was a color change but... started to notice Lucia has cloudy eyes!! Seperated her into the hospital tank and she's being medicated with melafix. Her color is coming back but eyes are still a little cloudy. Only day 3 of medicating. Poor baby
