I have a round bottle that has 4 pieces:
the bottle
the cap with dripper
a black thing that looks like some sort of support
and
a stiff wire with a hook on each end

and NO DIRECTIONS!

The wire won't fit around the bottle, the black "support" thing goes on how?

This is just silly!! but I give!

hope someone can help please ...

yep, I tried to find a picture online without having to go through all the camera download thingy ...
whoa
I just found the info that came with the bottle, all it tells me is how to prepare the water to drip through the spout ...

Now, since I have the name of the distributor, First Nature, maybe I can get more info.

nope, there's nothing there to help

here's the link to their store - http://www.firstnature.net/product_a...rbottles.phtml

It looks like the black plastic thing is for aquarium use? I don't see the black plastic thing in the photo at the website store, though.

I just emailed them - let's see how quickly they get back to me - will allow for holiday.

A picture really would help.
Thanks for the links, but they mostly have to do with another kind of pet.

The water bottle is for use on a kennel for a stray cat we just rescued.

I gave the link in another post, but, here it is again - the picture is on that webpage, I probably couldn't make a better picture.

http://www.firstnature.net/product_a...rbottles.phtml

I've tried to copy the picture from the website to paste here, but all that I get when I paste is a long web-address for the pic ???

We did just buy another brand, but I like this one because it has measurements printed on the bottle. I just want to be able to use this one, too, if I ever need it.

Thanks for your interest.

let's see if I can explain this without confusing you.LOL!!! Cause it does sound confusing to myself.
the black piece---you put on the OUTSIDE of the cage..the two little prong like things, go over a bar on the side of the cage.one like this _____________________
then you take the bottle INSIDE the cage.Hold it up to the black piece.
then, use the wire to wrap AROUND the bottle in the INSIDE of the cage---attaching the wire to the black pieces sticking out--or a bar in the cage.

okay - your directions were not confusing,
--- you did good, understood your directions, but --- there's a hitch - the wire is hardly big enough to fit AROUND the bottle much less fit around both the bottle AND the black piece AND hook onto the door wire

hee hee

even IF the wire on the door was too fat, it wouldn't make a difference 'cause the bottle wire doesn't protrude out far enough to attach to anything but, maybe a string

I can see some retrofitting might be in the future of this water bottle, hmmm ...

ok,then place the wire BETWEEN the neck of the bottle and the wrap around the wire that way.
(right where the bottle and the spout come together)

This is how the bottle is suppose to hang outside the crate.

Use the plastic holder when the bottle is inside the crate. The wire hooks onto the plastic arms.

The wire is not flexible. It's stainless steel hard.

The closest success I've had is hanging the bottle on the outside with the "wire" being attached like Luci shows - but, again - the "wire" is too short by just a hair - so, I'm getting out the pliers to bend the hooks on the "wire", otherwise it won't work.

Now I know why I got it on sale.

Today (7/7/10) I received their response - good to get a response, the remedy - not so good.

Here is the response:

The black piece is what we call an aquarium clip. You can use the wire to attachÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] it to the clip and then hang it on the side of the aquarium, cage, or kennel. Sometimes you have to use a pair of pliers to bend the hooked end of the wire so that it holds the bottle securely.

If you use the wire to attachÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] the bottle directly to the cage or kennel you will again use a pair of pliers to bend the hooked end of the wire so that it holds the bottle securely.

Customer Service

I wrote back and said that I had already resorted to using the pliers, but that the wire was very hard to bend, and that it was too short anyway. The wire hardly fit around the bottle, much less the bottle AND whatever the wire needed to attach in order to secure the bottle on the kennel.

I also sent them a link to this thread.

The wire should be just barely long enough to fit. It takes some maneuvering but I've always been able to fit it onto the cage. Forget the plastic thing; it's for aquariums. Just support the sipper tube on a cage bar, then hook one side of the wire onto a bar, then put the wire around the bottle and twiddle with it until you get the other side hooked to the bar as well. It's supposed to be stiff or the bottle would just fall right off.

I hear what your saying -- but ... you've just gotta believe me when I say that the wire doesn't reach around the bottle - even without the black thing - there is NO ROOM left to hook the wire on to anything ... the bottle is just too big for the wire ...
... there's NO ROOM to even "twiddle"
.. I will have to get out the tools and, do as the customer service person told me to do - bend the hooks on the wire.

Actually, I'll probably look for another bendable wire to use.

Thanks, all, for your help - I don't doubt that someone else may also be having this problem and maybe this thread will help them too.

Throw away the wire and use zip ties. It usually takes two zip ties together to fit around the bottle. The wire things suck. Zip ties kick butt

Hey, great suggestion - I do have several sizes to choose from (you do mean the plastic kind, right?) - just gotta find them - they're in the ah "Garage" hee, hee - it's more like the "Two-Car Storage".

thanks,
g

Yep the plastic kind
tighten them enough so that they hold the bottle firmly in place but loose enough that you can slip the bottle in and out whenever you need to refill. Its how I attatch all water bottles to rodent cages and dog/cat kennels.'

eta: you can also use those looooong, super strong twisty ties that come in the packaging of children's toys. Thats what I used before I discovered zip ties, just collect them after the kids open presents on Christmas or whenever.
