and a little advice about being patient!
I have just submitted my applications for two masters programs-- one is basically my dream program in a city I love. I've found an apartment that takes cats, and while I'm going to need to take out some loans to afford everything, it's where I want to be right now so I'm willing to make it happen.

my only problem right now is waiting! I'm petrified I won't be accepted and I can't stand having to sit around and wait. now that it's friday, I know nothing will happen until next week, so I'm trying not to think about it, but I just want to hear back!!

any advice to get me from checking my email every two minutes??

1. Read a good book.
2. Treat yourself to a pedicure!
3. Cuddle your babies.
4. Go to the movies.
5. Take a walk.
6. It's a holiday weekend!! Go to a ballgame, a BBQ, a picnic, watch some fireworks...

I've been where you are, just waiting for a phone call or e-mail, and trust me - patience is NOT my strong suit. I hope you have a great, patient weekend...

Unfortunately I don't really have any advice for the 'must check email often' syndrome, however I have been there in the sense of waiting for a reply that is so important
! On top of it not being able to enjoy your Holiday weekend because you haven't received anything! I am assuming you are pretty sure you will be excepted, otherwise why would you already have home for you and kitties set up, know what you have to do financially........ I know it's never a done deal till it actually happens, but I think you are ahead of the game enough to take a breath, enjoy your weekend, it is out of your hands as far as knowing anything before next week, so don't punish yourself

I don't have the apartment fully set up as I didn't want to pay the deposit and then have things not work out! Everything sounds really good from the school-- I went up for an interview and they were wonderful! However now that my application is in, they get to look over my transcripts and things and I'm so nervous they're going to think my grades aren't good enough or something's just not right! I'm just trying to relax and hope for the best.

Lots of good luck vibes! As to the patience... well - I say get out and totally distract yourself. If you like outside, go for a walk or hike somewhere. If you don't, head to a store or mall and buy some books or DVDs that look REALLY engrossing!

I'm assuming this is the kind of thing that takes like weeks or more - not a few days? Or are grad programs different?
