I am scared, mad, guilty. I dont know what is happening, 3 cats have been sick for days. Coughing real hard and throwing up. But they all get back up and are themselves. Well not TyTy. She is so sick, I think she is going to die. I called my husband to come home but he has to cash his check then he will come home and we are going to rush TyTy to the vet.
I am sooo scared!! she is my favorite, she is my Godess of Fierce!
Anyway, please pray and I will let you all know whats going on when i know something.

Thank you all for the wonderful wishes! I am happy to say that TyTy is one sick little girl, but is gonna feel better very soon! They scared us to death cause they said the thing she was doing with her mouth and toungue were indicitive of heart problems, plus her heart rate was off the charts and her temp was 104!!! Wow! We had to sign all kinds of papers and stuff, I was so scared we were gonna loose her. But the vet's office was so good to us and her. Sent her home with tons of medicine. Now we did tell them 2 boys have it too but they dont have it like her, they are just coughing and throwing up then they run and jump and play where she was totally lithargic. You wont believe this!!! The nurse who signed us out and gave us all the medicines (and there are a ton) she explained them all and said the antibiotic TyTy has to take the whole bottle but all the other meds we could share with the 2 sick boys, well, she said shhh and she gave us 2 extra bottles of antibiotic for the boys, no charge!!! Phew!! I asked her how could they get sick, no one has EVER been outside and no cats in or around. They said it could have come in on our shoes!!!! I always thought keeping my babbies inside would protect them from ALL harm, I was sooo wrong.
Well lucky TyTy gets gooooood pain meds for a few days and spoiled even more rotten (like thats possible) than usual.
Been a long day and night.

If you can, keep her in a room separated from the others. Run a vaporizer 24/7 to help her breathe. She's doing that swallowing thing because she's got so much drainage running down her throat. (It's called overexaggerated swallowing, btw, and my girl's done it, too.) If you don't have a vaporizer, take her into the bathroom, run the shower and get the bathroom very steamy, turn the water off, and sit in there with her until the steam dissipates. (Spa treatment!)

It's also very, very, very important that she eat and drink. She MUST eat. If you don't feed her canned food already, get some or get stage 2 meat baby food with no onions or garlic. Warm it up in the microwave for just a few seconds to enhance the aroma. If her nose is stopped up, she can't smell, and thus, won't eat. Also, try elevating her food dish on top of a small box or a stack of books so that she doesn't have to bend down so far to eat. When she bends down, the snot runs to her nose and then she'll pick her head up and not eat. If you can't get wet food, you can take a chicken breast and boil it in plain water with no salt or seasonings, then shred it and add some of the broth to make it the consistency of chicken salad. See if she'll eat that.

Keep us posted on her progress!!

Another thing you could try if she won't eat is Hills Prescription Diet - available from vets.

It looks like pate (and actually even smells tasty to a human). You take a teaspoon of the food, put it in a cup and mix it with a little warm water. Keep stirring it and it becomes very runny. You can then syringe feed her. I had to do this with my Lucy (RIP - age 22) and it pulled her through recurring cat flu many times. Also, because it is so runny and has water content in it (the water you mix in with it) it helps stop them become dehydrated.

A point I raised in another thread was that indoor cats can and do get illnesses. Not so much as outdoor cats but they can get it. Germs can be transferred on your clothes and shoes (like your vet said) but also germs can be airborne. If an infected cat comes near your house and sneezes, the germs can also be passed on that way - just the same as colds and flu spread among humans.

I really hope TyTy and the boys will be OK. Sending healing to them

How is she feeling this morning? Is she doing better now? I'm hoping the meds are starting to kick in. Am SO HAPPY that she got a good prognosis from the Vet. What is wrong with her (and the boys) anyway? for a quick recovery for all three.
