Pete Stark, California Congressman, is an arrogant SOB who has been in Congress way too long. In this video he mocks the Minutemen, who would like to see a secure border by accusing them of being killers. Not true, the Minutemen do not carry guns, and have never been involved in violence.

Pete Stark is a disgrace. He is seen here mocking his constituents. He is obviously out of touch with the concerns of the people in his district. I hope his opponent uses this video against him.

I'm not a fan of this kind of political ad, but that's pretty much all you see these days, from all parties.

As for the minutemen, I don't think its true that they don't carry guns and have never been involved in violence. Aren't they a militia organizaton?

At Station Two, Minuteman volunteers grilled bratwursts and fantasized about murder.

"It should be legal to kill illegals," said Carl, a 69-year old retired Special Forces veteran who fought in Vietnam and now lives out West. "Just shoot 'em on sight. That's my immigration policy recommendation. You break into my country, you die."

Carl was armed with a revolver chambered to fire shotgun shells. He wore this hand cannon in a holster below a shirt that howled "American bad asses" in red, white and blue. The other vigilantes assigned to Station Two included a pair of self-professed members of the National Alliance, a violent neo-Nazi organization. These men, who gave their names only as Johnny and Michael, were outfitted in full-body camouflage and strapped with semi-automatic pistols.

Earlier that day, Johnny and Michael had scouted sniper positions in the rolling, cactus-studded foothills north of Border Road, taking compass readings and drawing maps for future reference.

"I agree completely," Michael said. "You get up there with a rifle and start shooting four or five of them a week, the other four or five thousand behind them are going to think twice about crossing that line."

Holy cow, (that is not the word I am thinking) who is this clown? What an arrogant, pompous, condesending dope.

His shelf life has expired. If he were my representative, I'd move.

No, the Minutemen aren't a militia organization at all. In their words, The Minuteman Project is, "A multi-ethnic immigration law-enforcement advocacy group. Operating within the law to support enforcement of the law." This is the group from which all the rest spring from. They do have groups "patroling" the border, however they do not carry arms on their patrols and they do not intercept people or groups crossing the border. They call Border Patrol to alert them. They act as additional sets of eyes that the Border Patrol cannot afford to hire.

As with any group there will always be a few bad apples to spoil the bunch. Apparently the Southern Poverty Law Center (not an unbiased group in any way, shape or form!) went looking for and found some rednecks who spout off and carry firearms to fit the mold they wanted to fill.

If the quote you use about "fantasizing about killing illegals" makes one a criminal, then you better lock me up too. In a recent thread that became a "What would you do to deal with the border situation?" debate, I wrote:

Sure, fine, we've been "working" with the Mexican government/guard but that hasn't done anything to stop the drugs or the violence.

I want to stop the stories like this:

My post is #25.

Thinking about it, even saying it, doesn't mean that I or the men in that article have actually done it. I'm certainly not a murderer. Never had a human being in my sights on any of the firearms that I've shot, though obviously a soldier may not have had that luxury. Doesn't mean that they enjoyed it.

Statements like that show the amount a frustration that is felt when people see a problem that is not being dealt with at all by the Federal Government - who are the ones who are supposed to secure the borders of this country.

Pete Stark is one of many reasons why there should be term limits for members of Congress. I hope his constituents see what a jerk he is and vote him out in November.
