Jake and Boomers' Story--Vibes, please?

In the early days of March 2010 an Indiana woman decided she didn't want her two dogs anymore so she doused a pit bull puppy and a 5 year old Australian Cattle dog with gasoline and set them on fire. She is being charged with two counts of animal cruelty and is undergoing a pysch evaluation. The burns were very extensive on both their bodies and are just now beginning to heal. They became local celebrities and are in an "undisclosed" location away from the tormentor and all of her family members.
I remember seeing this on the news and crying over these poor little creatures. I believe some people are pure evil and try to hide behind a mental illness defense. I have NO sympathy for this woman and hopes she pays-pays-pays for what she has done!!
Today I had the privilege of spending a few hours with these dogs. They are extremely sweet, but very shy. They allowed me to love on them and talk my baby talk to them. The older one was thought to be more aggressive because he had been chained up outside most of his life and beaten regularly. I bonded with him right away. He has the look of an old man whose had a hard life. He has scars all over his face and a dent in his head. I just can't imagine how he could ever trust anyone again. But he looked at me with those eyes that pleaded for love...
The puppy just wanted to go-go-go. After an hour walk and rolling in the cool grass he calmed down. He seems to be smart. At one point I told him to "sit" and he did!!! What was meant to be the end of his life is now just the beginning..of a wonderful life, I hope. To emphasize how evil his owner was, she placed his little body in a 5 gallon steel drum before tossing in the match. Thank God the neighbors heard the screaming dogs and ran to their rescue. If they had waited for the police it would have been too late.
Their futures are still uncertain. I just hope that they can have a good life with full bellies and hands that will love them not hurt them. If you have any extra vibes for these two, please send them out. Let's keep them in our thoughts

That woman (who set them on fire) should be thrown in a 5 gallon oil drum and set on fire herself! How can anyone be so cruel? This story is heartbreaking. I certainly hope these dogs find a happy, loving home.

This literally made me bawl! Those poor, poor babies... I will never understand such evil! Vibes coming from me!

I have to wonder what in the world people have been through in their lives to cause them to do such mean things. God bless these two dogs and send them a very loving person to take them home and love them.

People like that woman should be dead. I have no sympathy nothing for people like that. The world would be better off without people like her in it. It may make me cruel for saying this but I wish nothing less than the most painful death possible for her!

Your feelings are NOT cruel at all. What was cruel was the things she did to those dogs. I agree with your 110%. When I met those babies they were so accepting of me. I hugged the puppy and whispered in his ear--"We aren't ALL like that monster who hurt you." There are times when i am ashamed of being human

I hate people. Not the good ones, just the scum that would do this to an animal. I spend my whole life taking care, as we all do, of our animals. I agree, throw her in a barrel and light the match.

In fact, I'd hold a lottery for striking the match and give the money to the shelter that is taking care of these dear souls.

Oh god what an awful story.
I have given up on trying to uderstand some people, they're just plain old nasty, nasty individuals. Frankly I don't care what reason you can come up with for wilfully inflicting cruelty, it's never going to be good enough.

I think people would be queuing up to strike the match!!!

I would do to that evil piece of trash what she did to these poor dogs - exactly the same - and I wouldn't lose any sleep over doing it either.

I think some of these wicked, evil people do use mental illness as an excuse for their horrible deeds.

At least in America you have longer sentences for people convicted of animal cruelty and they are treated as the criminals they are. Over here in the UK, the maximum jail sentence that can be passed but seldom is is 6 months and a fine of a few thousand pounds. Far too lenient and because our prison system is rubbish, criminals usually only serve around 1/3rd to 1/2 of their sentence. In other words, someone who is sentenced to 6 months will get out in 3 months or less.

It is no deterrent whatsoever and we are seeing an increase in animal cruelty over here.

I would have the minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment, a maximum £100,000 fine and a ban on keeping ANY animal for LIFE.

Edited to say lots of vibes for these two obviously lovely dogs.
