Ok so i'm fostering a mom cat with babies for a "private rescuer" I have had them for 2 months now, I got the mom the day before she had the babies
They have not been seen by a vet, I have asked her when these cats get there shots she told me last week on the 22nd when she plans on taking them to the vet she told me she would make an appointment for this week she still hasn't told me when the appointment is and I live an hour from the vets office and she has to come get them to take them there and she lives an hour from me so this can't be a lat minute oh by the way deal. Also there is not contract other then what we have talked about through e-mails and she was supposed to supply food and litter, and All vet care she hasn't done any of this but now I'm hearing rumors that she is an animal flipper and she was offal concerned about the adoption fee being $50. She told me she would give me part of the fee I told her don't worry about giving me money I just want them to get good homes so maybe she could reduce the fee to $25 or $35 instead since she is supposed to be doing home and vet checks but she was completely against that.
I'm really considering just telling her not to worry about them and take care of adopting the out myself but I don't know if maybe I'm over reacting
What do you all think

I suspect strongly YOU are sitting with the basket in your knees.
So far her only part was bringing them to you. You had done and payed for everything else. And it seems - you must do all the rest too...

Yours is the job, so take on the honours and credit for it too.

Tx a lot, and good luck!

I don't know about there, but the vet costs for a rescue kitten here, just for vaccines and deworming would come close to $50 without any other costs on top (advantage etc or any medical treatment they may need as kittens) and spaying the mom (most shelters recoup the more expensive costs through the kittens)

In most shelters and rescues here, its not unusual for the kittens not to see a vet if there is not an issue until they are old enough for adoption and need the necessary healthcare for adoption (whatever healthcare that rescue does)

As far as checks, I research the rescues before hand and won't volunteer for a group that I don't agree with, but would they be coming to your home to meet the kittens, in which case you can always ask for references yourself?

As far as the appt, I would just call (not email) her and ask her when the appt is as you have a busy week and want to make sure you are home for her when she comes. And after, ask for the vet records to keep with the kittens

I agree with all of the above. The only time Cat Rescue Maritimes kittens see the vet is if 1) There is something obviously wrong with them. 2) They've been adopted. Once adopted they go to the vet for their shots, deworming, defleaing, etc and then once old enough, we have them spayed/neutered. We also provide all supplies to our foster parents.

I do know personally that our ca-R-ma gets VERY busy, but we are a registered charity. Do you know if this rescuer is registered? Call and bug.
Be persistant and GOOD LUCK!
