I recently got a somewhat shameful reminder of just how much of a computer nerd I am: I took a vacation to Kansas City for about a week, left my cats here with my family. They were taken care of, but I missed them. I was told stories of how they would all line up at the foot of my bed and just stare at people like they were looking for me, so I figured they missed me too and expected an enthusiastic greeting when I got home. Sadly, when I opened the door and said hello, the best I got was a glance up from grooming. One even ran away when I tried to pick her up!

Here's the part that really makes me feel bad, though.
I unpacked and got settled, then sat down and turned on my computer. Suddenly, all four of them were at my side and feet, begging for attention. Seems they only recognize me if I'm sitting at my computer, and had just realized I was home.

Wow, that sounds like me. In fact, my boys will run ahead of me into the living room and sit by the computer and wait for me

I don't think you are alone. Holland just loves to come and lay on my laptop when she feels I am spending too much time on the computer and not enough time with her. Of course, as soon as I get up from the computer to play with her, she isn't interested in me anymore...

Yep, my cats all always want attention when I am in the MIDDLE of something else. A few of them will try to lay on the laptop.

My two kittens Joey and Billy LOVE to sit on me while I am at the computer. They both walk across the laptop, sit on it, than when I move them they walk onto my chest and sit on me and purr. I had never had a cat do that until Joey did, and I was so shocked when Billy did! Billy is blind but he hears me typing and walks right over to my hands and cries for attention, if he doesn't get it right away, he jumps onto my hands!
