Does anyone know how to take in jeans...?

Does anyone know how to alter a pair of jeans?
And take them in a couple of inches?

Lucky you Suraya - all I seem to do is take things OUT at the moment!!!

In past years when I used to take trousers in, I would stitch the inside leg seam to make them narrower, but this was when I was at art school and the esthetics of a good fit wasn't as important.

If you are worried about the tailoring looking professional, I would recommend using a seamstress, (or in the UK dry cleaners often carry out alterations) - I would imagine their rates are quite reasonable.

I wash them on HOT and then dry them one HIGH and they seem to get alot smaller then

I depends on where they are too big?
If the waist is the only problem, start on the back waist band and make to darts (evenly spaced each side of the center back)and run them down a inch or two to take out the slack. When you sew the darts start at the top of the waist band and sew down to the point of the dart. You then press the dart (with an Iron) to the center of waist band. Or you can cut the dart ( if you cut then if you gain your weight back you can not let it out).
Are you using a sewing machine? make sure you change your needle for jean material or it may break

I second what Clara said, if you choose to do it yourself and what Princess Purr said as a try to shrink, and Yola has great advice if you want to let a professional do it. Sometimes you can sit and watch the seamstress so you can get an idea of what to do next time, so you can try it your self.
