I have 4 boxes total so no one is using the floor or anything other than the other 3. I just cleaned the boxes and I have noticed that neither Attitude or Nuts have used the litter box in the bathroom for a few days. I have 3 boxes right next to each other in the kitchen/dining room, somewhat 'large'(for a trailer) area boxes are no where close to anything to do with food.
There is nothing different really about the box, same litter mix, Tidy cat 24/7 and Special Kitty orange box. I buy whatever I buy, they don't care as long as they have litter to use. I usually alternate between Arm & Hammer multi-cat and Special Kitty, but Paul grabbed Tidy Cats last time we shopped and since they don't care what litter is in the box, as long as there is litter they'll use it, it didn't matter. There is a litter guard on the box but they haven't cared in the past, the box has been in there and used since Dec when I had to have Mama inside, I was worried she wouldn't use a box that had been used by Attitude, Nuts and Maude so I brought in a box I kept outside so it wouldn't smell like anyone she didn't know. She actually didn't care and used all 3 once I let her out of the bathroom since the Friskies wet, vet said to slowly transition her back to dry to make sure she didn't prolapse again, made her poop reek and I was worried I'd never get the smell out if I didn't let the bathroom air out. I started giving her Natural Balance along with her wet(no cat inside my house is fed crap for dry food, not to mention mine would eat it if they had the chance I have found Attitude inside a bag of Cat chow, and yes she was inside the upright bag, she had jumped inside, eating the cat chow) to get her transitioned.
I just never moved the box back outside and have added another box to the kitchen since then. They have always had a box in the bathroom it was where I kept them when I first let them in until Maude get her FeLV vaccine(Attitude and Nuts are both positive and Maude wasn't and still wasn't when she crossed the RB) and we could let them out.
They have always used this box and I'm wondering why they aren't now. Like I said I'm not really concerned since they have 3 other boxes and aren't leaving kitty 'presents' anywhere. I'm more curious about it. If they weren't using any boxes then we'd be visiting the vet to find out if I had sick kitties or behavior issues but they are fine with the other boxes and Nuts had urine work done today for a separate issue that didn't involve that didn't involve box avoidance and he's been given a clean bill of urine health. No one cares who uses what box so none the boxes are for any of them specifically to use since they don't care about sharing boxes. They also have no issue with box cleanliness(and I do clean them once a day), in fact Nuts gets mad when he has a clean box, when I am cleaning them he will find the one that is still dirty to go in and always looks quite upset when he goes to a box and finds there is nothing in it but cat litter.
Anyone else have a cat(or cats) that just decided they didn't want to use one litter box in your house, but still use the others without issues.
