It's 12:30am and my appointment today was at 4:00pm. Let's just say I'm not feeling too well at this point. It's been a long, drawn out, painful day. So, this might be brief.

I had my upper and lower right wisdom teeth extracted this afternoon. The upper tooth was removed easily, but there were some issues with the bottom wisdom tooth. Apparently, the tooth cracked and broke apart. And, when it broke apart, it left a small piece of tooth still very much attached to the bone. It took many shots of Novocain and almost 30 minutes to remove the tooth fragment, but, thankfully, in the end, everything worked out. But, as to be expected, I'm not feeling well.

There was a lot of confusion about what antibiotics I should be prescribed. In fact, it was quite the debacle and I didn't even get home from having the procedure until after 8:00pm. The dentist originally prescribed Azithromycin, but I am allergic. He then prescribed Clindomycin. And, again, I am allergic. Finally, I asked my roommate to bring them a list of meds I can take and they agreed on Cipro and even called it in to the pharmacy. However, when I got to the pharmacy and gave the tech my name, she handed me a bag with a bottle of Clindomycin pills inside. It was a disaster and I wound up walking out without antibiotics! Thankfully, however, I had Cipro at home and took a dose along with the Vicodin (the dentist also wrote a script for Tylenol with Codeine, but I don't know whether to fill it or not -- is it stronger than the Vicodin?) the dentist prescribed. And, I'll have the prescription for Cipro filled by tomorrow morning. But, let me tell you, when you're in pain and slightly groggy, having to deal with miscommunications can be quite overwhelming.

My mouth hurts. A lot. I had a wisdom tooth and a molar removed in April and I do not remember this much pain associated with those extractions. Of course, the difference is that, this time, I had both upper and lower teeth removed, but I still am feeling much worse than I did in April. I have quite a bit of swelling and there is the beginning of some bruising. I've got a headache and I am feeling both overly warm and a little nauseated. The pain is also fairly severe. But, I suppose that all is to be expected. And, in just a little bit here, I'm going to be taking a shower and crawling into bed. I know the kitties and the dogs will help me to feel better -- they always do.

I guess my roommate left me the dishes to do and I still have my aforementioned shower to take, but aside from that and possibly grabbing something soft to eat (all I had for dinner was a little egg salad and a frozen Italian ice), I am planning on going to bed. Hopefully, sleeping will help.

To make a long story short, I had my wisdom teeth extracted and now I feel not-so-good. Vibes are welcome. Oh, and I'm grumpy
. Good story, huh?!

Tylenol with Codeine is not as strong as Vicodin. I always refuse Ty. with Cod. as it makes me jittery. It does nothing for the pain.

Make an ice pack and put it on your face to help with the swelling.

GOOD LUCK!

My daughter had all four pulled at once last October. I helped the pain more than anything else she tried. I hope you feel better soon

What an ordeal!
Nothing can go smoothly, can it? Sigh. But it's done now, so rest up, take your meds, sleep, and here's a bunch of vibes to feel better SOON!

I'm so sorry you had to go thru all that. Vicodin is stronger than Tylenol with codeine. If the dentist ok'd you to eat soft foods, you may want to eat something with it. Vicodin can be hard on an empty stomach. I think I ate chicken broth after I had my wisdom teeth cut out, but it was so greasy it made me sick. I hope you feel better soon.

I had mine pulled in 2005 when I was 19 and it sucked. I hope you feel better soon. If they gave you medicine and you get sick from it; it's normal. I had to stop taking it because I got really sick. I think ibuprofen should help if the meds make you sick or some kinda pain medicine.

I have been prescribed vicodin before and it did NOTHING to relieve my pain. I just take 800mg motrin...yeah, not great for the body.

Sending good thoughts. I had two wisdom teeth dug out and it was awful. If you smoke, dont. Do not drink from a straw...dry socket hurts the most.

Hope you feel better soon!!

Well, it's been over 24 hours since I had my two wisdom teeth out and I'm still feeling quite miserable. I do not remember being in this much pain following my one wisdom tooth extraction (along with the molar next to it) back in April. And, I certainly didn't have this kind of swelling or bruising. I've been pretty darned crabby all day too, but, hey, who wouldn't after having a couple of teeth yanked out of their mouth? Thankfully, I have a saint as a roommate
.

I was able to pick up the correct prescription this morning. It's 250mg of Cipro 2x daily for 20 days. I'm not sure why I'm supposed to be on the antibiotics for so long, but that'll be a question I ask my dentist when I follow up with him next week. I'm also taking the Vicodin. The dentist prescribed Tylenol with Codeine as well, and I filled it, but it did nothing more than make me more anxious than I already am. And, trust me, that is not a pretty sight
. The Vicodin is helping...kind of. It seems to dull the pain for about 45 minutes to an hour, but nothing more. My dentist told me I could add some Ibuprofen to the mix, but I haven't done so yet as my stomach is not feeling too great and I don't want to make it worse than it already is. So, I'm dealing as best I can. A bag of frozen peas has become my best friend, but, shh, don't tell the peas that there's been a couple times today that I've cheated with the bag of frozen corn. Oh yeah, bad joke. And, yes, I'm loopy.

But, despite all the discomfort, there have been some good things. For one, my antibiotics were free (that's 40 pills of 250mg Cipro). Secondly, I can eat ice cream whenever I want. And, Italian ices aren't too bad either
! Of course, the other soft foods I've been eating are kind of eh, but that can be managed. Another positive is that I've been able to spend lots of time cuddled up on the sofa with the kitties and the pups. They've all been taking extra good care of their mommy. I think their love helps relieve my pain more than the pain meds! I know...aww! So, even though I've been feeling not-so-great, things aren't all that bad. Just the sheer fact that I was able to financially and emotionally take care of my dental needs is reason enough to be grateful.

Thank you all for your vibes and well wishes. I don't smoke so that isn't a problem and I know not to drink from a straw. I'm following the dentist's orders and am taking care of myself. I've had a few moments of bleeding today, but nothing terrible and I'm hoping that the swelling will lessen some tomorrow. But, it is what it is. My biggest complaint is that I can't seem to sleep since the pain keeps me up, but, hey, TCS is here whether it's 3:00pm or 3:00am. And, I'm thankful for that! Since I don't think I'm making sense anymore, I'm going to finish this post. Thanks again everyone
!

I hope you feel better soon, hun!

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled I was in college, and my mom took me to my appointment and took care of me afterward. I was only looking forward to the milkshakes and mashed potatoes.

Just keep on cuddling with your sweet little ones, and I'm sure you'll be feeling better in no time! Lots of from me & Holland for a speedy recovery!
