There's plenty, I have a good memory.

But the some of the ones that stuck with me most vividly are from kindergarten. One of my teachers did not like me at all (my actually being able to read well was a problem). She'd get mad because I'd finish my work ahead of the other kids because I could read the directions - she'd call me names for it.

The last day of school I had forgotten to bring a paper grocery sack to put my school stuff in. Now, mind you I did have a back pack everything would have fit into and she did have extra sacks.
I had a few loose pieces of paper in my desk with doodles on them. She went off on me, calling me stupid, lazy, and "piggy" for having loose paper in my desk and made me put a paper cut out of a pig on my desk while encouraging the other students to join in the name calling. Everything but what was in my coloring box was thrown away - pads of drawing paper, coloring books, a book, note paper, etc.

What makes it all better is hearing my MIL's opinion of her - she had dealings with her in the past because DH's cousin was unlucky enough to have the same teacher years later.. Guess what my MIL calls the woman?

Oh, and I also had my eye scratched by my cat when I was seven and had to wear an eye patch to school. I remember some other girls bugging me to show them my eye in the bathroom. It grossed them out.

meeting my Beau

I was dating another guy at the time and was actually sent to "the guys table" to talk to Gary for a friend because she was too much of a chicken to talk to him herself. Next thing I know we are talking on AIM for hours I'm breaking up with the guy I was dating and he asks me to the winter formal

The night of our winter formal was also our first kiss

We've been dating since Dec 2002

Wow, what a question! I have tons of memories concerning my school days. The first thing that comes to mind is 'Nuns'---I attended Catholic schools for 12 years and back then we still had a lot of nuns.
Did you know that some nuns could be very sexist? In 8th grade, I received the most votes to become class president. Our teacher, Sr. Ruth, said I couldn't be president because I was a girl! We then had a male president, secretary, and 'sergeant at arms' (go figure). During class meetings they all sat up in front of the class, while I got to stay at my desk.
Sr. Ruth did, however, allow me to be editor of the school paper.
I didn't care for that woman.

I was in honor's classes all through High School which meant I was in classes with all the "geeks" in the school. One day in Literature class, something triggered the class to get rowdy and everyone started to throw paper wads, talk loudly, and generally act up. The teacher couldn't get everyone to settle down. My mom was a teacher and I heard her stories of rowdy classes and I could empathize with our teacher. So after about 10 minutes of out of control behavior from my peers, with the teacher trying her best to calm them down, I stood up and simply told them that they were all being incredibly stupid. Everyone calmed down immediately. The teacher gave me a knowing smile with a slight head nod in thanks. I didn't do this to suck up to the teacher - I was already the class outcast in that I was the one honor student in the school that got in continuous trouble (they actually tried to expel me at one point) - they were actually being plain stupid. Later that year when I failed to turn in my term paper that was worth 50% of my grade, she still gave me an A in the class. She knew I did the research, I just failed to write the paper. This was the one time that being "different" worked in my favor.

Wow I was a completely different person in school than I am now. I was always overweight and in high school I was a good 160-170 pounds heavier than I am now.
I was also quite the Goth chick.
I had long black hair (I'm a natural blonde), black lips, eyes, clothes, chains, etc.

I was REALLY involved in theatre. There is absolutely no feeling like that of being on stage, and that's probably what I miss the most about school days.

Good question Chris!

Most of my memories revolve around my teachers. One of the best is my history teacher in grade 11. He was writing on the white board (they brought those in to get rid of the chalk dust on blackboards) and then his marker ran out of ink. And he just stood there for at least 5 minutes. Then all of a sudden he turned around and threw the marker at the back wall as hard as he could, and then calmly picked up another marker like nothing happened.

But the best still has to be one of my substitute teachers. He was an incredible artist. Whenever we were done early he would start by drawing North and South America. It wasn't just a rough sketch, it was absolutely flawless. All the little curves and are almost unnoticeable were exactly where they should be. Then after that he would draw Europe (again perfectly) and even add in all the borders for the countries. Then to finish off, he would draw Canada. All the curves, and the rivers and lakes, all the borders, and even the Baffin Islands.

This isn't really about a school class, but it happened at the same time. The first day that I went to school (I was 4), I came back home and there was an old piano in the living room with a strange man playing. That was my first piano lesson and I continued to take lessons for 14 years. (I hated them at the time)

When I was in sixth grade, the students were separated into classes, according to how well they comprehended info (for reading class) or how well they did math (for science and math class). Well, I was put into the middle group.....never quite understood why.

Anyway, on the first day of class, the teacher had every student read aloud, a paragraph, page, etc. of a story. When it was my turn, I stood up and starting reading. I finished and the teacher stared at me. And then he said, "What are you doing here?" And I remember, I said, "Good question!"!!
And I was immediately moved into the highest level. Same for the science and math classes. Go figure. Sometimes teachers don't know where their students belong.

I got pregnant when I was a junior in HS. I finished my junior year, then had my son the fall of my senior year. I finshed HS with a correspondence course and was able to walk across the stage to get my diploma with my classmates. My baby son was in his father's (my DH) arms. When my name was called, a snarky woman sitting in front of DH, DS, and my DMIL leaned over to another woman and said, "That's the girl who got pregnant!!" And DH leaned down and said, "Yes, she did! Would you like to meet our son?!" The woman didn't know what to do!

In grade 10 I got an A in art the first semester, then a D in the second semester. I had to bring a letter home asking Mom to come in for a meeting, later that day. Mom was really angry " how on earth could you get an A one semester then a failing D the next" I told Mom it probably had something to do with what the teacher was smoking the art room closet. Mom came home with a shocked look on her face. All she said was " I think you're right"

Really none. Hated high school, way to clicky.

I would have a study hall at the end of the day, so I would sneak out a side door and my dad, rest his soul, would be there to pick me up.

So those are the memories I have...my dad covertly helping me sneak out of school.

He was the best. A bit of a rebel, but the best!

I remember in high school at the Regional Concert & Sight Reading contest, we were handed music we had never seen before. Our band director was allowed to go through the song once with us, and that's when we discovered a trumpet solo in the music. His eyes were big when he looked at me, and I felt a jolt go through me since I was first chair trumpet and the solo was mine.

At Sight Reading Contest, they almost never gave music with solos - it's not fair for the entire band's rating to rely on a soloist messing up or not! But we played the song, I played the solo perfectly, and that was a very happy day for me and all of us!

I don't remember a lot about my childhood, I was abused and blocked almost everything out, but I do remember school and band, where I was treated fairly and my hard work was rewarded.

Thanks for the nice memory.

Well, when I finally got to date the guy I was crazy about in HS, Dom, when he was a freshman in Fordham U. We went together for a long time and he was the first guy that asked me to marry him.

Then, it was the honors I received and the schools I got into. I am smart - I just don't bother to pretend not to be anymore - and with every honor and good school I got into there was my biggest fan, my Mom.

Losing 51 3/4 pounds in 52 weeks over my sophmore year in HS and having guys notice me in my junior year.

Marching on Fifth Ave in the Saint Patrick's and Columbus Day Parades, playing the Sousaphonne (tuba).

My graduate school roommate who is now a nuclear physicist.

Michigan football games. Walking the gorges at Cornell.

Blowing off studying on a nice day.

Having some of the best professors in the country for undergrad and grad school.

Having more fun than working for a living.

Probably being in 5th grade going to an after-school care thing, I would go back to my old teachers and help them grade their student's tests and whatnot (before Scantrons became the norm). I loved going back to help my favorite teachers.

I've had many good schooling memories and not enough time to write them all. Maybe I should put them in one of my blogs someday
