Came in this morning to feed the boys, etc... and Archie is nowhere to be found. Usually he is right at the garage access door, begging to be let out. Then Doug heard some faint crying. He said, I think it's upstairs.

So I raced up there -sometimes in their horsing around they slam a door behind them and get stuck in the bathroom. No biggie. Not this time. The door to the spare bedroom was closed. Uh... OK? Open it and Casper comes flying out but I still hear Archie crying and calling -he was sounding really freaked out and frightened!!

I look ...... up. Aaahhh! He was in a "dead space" above the closet. My condo has really high ceilings and there is this nook between the top of the closet and the vault of the ceiling - about 10-12 feet up.

How in the blue blazes did he get UP there??? Jake- who is very nimble and quite the athlete will jump on my desk, the hutch and the bookcase, then high-wire it across the top of the door frame or door and leap into that space. But he is able to get back down.

But Archie is a lard butt. 14 pounds and not that agile. I can only surmise that Archie managed to do that same trick, but the door closed and he was stuck... he was too scared to try to come back that way once I opened the door. I have NO idea how long he was trapped up there.

So Doug got the stepladder and managed to grab flailing, mewling, crying Archie and hand him down to me. BOY was he glad to have all fours on the floor!!! He was a little clingy after that for a bit... but he is fine now. He avoided that room for a while, but not anymore.

Don't think he will be doing THAT again for a while, at least I hope not.

It's funny how kitties can get themselves into all KINDS of trouble.

hmm....I wouldn't be surprised if you find him up there again, now that he has discovered the excitement it causes! <weg>
