A fine example of your tax dollars almost at work and the idiocy of bureaucracy.

This is the third story I can recall seeing on national news in the past year regarding children (or at least someone sharing the same name as a child) being on the no-fly list.

I think it's ridiculous. I can understand if it was an adult with the same name: you can't tell who would be the criminal, but when it's a child...come on!

It's a zero-tolerance based policy; no common sense exceptions allowed.

We are seeing many examples of our tax dollars almost at work and the idiocy of bureaucracy, i.e. the Gulf of Mexico. Government Bureaucracy has grown by 25% under President Obama.

What are you basing your numbers on?

Do you have a source that disproves what I wrote.

No, I'm trying to understand where your 25% comes from. Is it based on the number of regulations, the number of employees hired, the amount of time that business and individuals spent on regulations? And what is the base point used to calculate this increase?

I can't disprove an arbitrary number without knowing what it is based on. Without knowing the source, it is not a valid statement, but a rumor.

TCS members spend an average of 27 minutes a day on Facebook. Do you have a source that disproves that?

Oh wow, this could be straight from rule #2 of the Dave Barry article "How to win arguments, as it were".

Quote:
Make things up.

Suppose, in the Peruvian economy argument, you are trying to prove Peruvians are underpaid, a position you base solely on the fact that YOU are underpaid, and you're damned if you're going to let a bunch of Peruvians be better off. DON'T say: ``I think Peruvians are underpaid.'' Say: ``The average Peruvian's salary in 1981 dollars adjusted for the revised tax base is $1,452.81 per annum, which is $836.07 before the mean gross poverty level.''

NOTE: Always make up exact figures.

If an opponent asks you where you got your information, make THAT up, too. Say: ``This information comes from Dr. Hovel T. Moon's study for the Buford Commission published May 9, 1982. Didn't you read it?'' Say this in the same tone of voice you would use to say ``You left your soiled underwear in my bath house.''
The article is funny, and has a few good tips.

In 2007 President George Bush's total budget was 2.77 trillion dollars. This is according to ask.com. (federal budget 2007). President Obama's proposed budget for 2011 is 3.69, with some saying 3.8 trillion dollars. This is found on whitehouse.gov website. Do the math. I am sure it will be as accurate as Dan Rather's 2004 report at CBS on President Bush's military service.

What's the big deal, the family was still able to travel, they just had a longer check in time. Seriously? Is it better for the national air security to be efficient or people to get on planes with bombs in their underwear? She was able to travel with her family, they just had an extended security clearance.........

I don't have a problem with them being very careful and I appreciate that. I do think they could be a bit faster cleaning it up when it is proven they are wrong.
