I was out walking in a regional redwood park here and there were swarms of bugs around us. I realized they were lady bugs. Some of them landed on me. It was just fantastic to see them. I wish I had had a camera or even my phone. Really amazing.

Oh my. As I opened this thread, I had a feeling it was going to be a bad idea
. Let's just say I do not do well around insects. And, apparently, just the fact that I read about insects has me now feeling itchy and scratchy. But, that's not to say that I didn't enjoy reading about your experience.

I've had moments of awe before. And, it is always an amazing feeling. It is so easy to get caught up in my life and the constant loop of troubles and concerns in my mind...and then mother nature intervenes. Then, suddenly, it's as if I receive a jolt to my system that wakes me up and reminds me that there is something so much larger than just me in this world. It sounds as though your experience with the ladybugs was exactly like that. And, if that's the case, how beautiful and amazing that must have been!

Even though your story was, at the most basic level, was about insects, I really appreciated what you shared. And, it serves as a reminder this evening, as I'm thinking too much about my worries, that there is something far greater in this world than just me and my fears. Life truly is a fantastic, glorious thing! Thank you for reminding me about that.

There are always tons of lady bugs around here in the summer. I don't like them though (don't like any bugs).

Bugs terrify me too!! Which is why my idea of getting back to the great out doors is opening my apartment window!!

That said, I'm not afraid of all bugs. Lady bugs, mosquitos, flies and bees do not scare me. Well, ok, bees will because they bite and I'm allergic, but I don't run around yelling and screaming when I see them, unlike I do with ticks, spiders and other types of creepy crawlies.

But...they are all good for the environment and they have their place in our world just like we do.

I like lady bugs but not those other ones that look like lady bugs. Lady bugs are good for the roses as they eat aphids. The other ones are pests and they bite too!

We have lady bugs all over the place around here. Which is a good thing, indeed. I would have loved to have seen some pictures.

Now, if somebody could eliminate those darn Japanese beetles from our property, that would be great!

I am also not a bug person AT ALL.
I supposed if one were to land on me, I would want it to be a lady bug as opposed to some others out there.

Is that how it went? Was there more? What did it mean?

Lady bugs are one insect I am not afraid of and would never kill. As a child there was a song we used to sing when a lady bug landed on us, it went like this:

"Lady bug, lady bug fly away, your house is on fire and your children are crying."

We kept repeating it till she flew away and of course being a child, I believed she flew away because of the song we sang.

Does anyone else remember this song?

I posted about that above but I don't remember the second sentence like that but we agree on the first. So I looked it up:
