Apparently, I'm not allowed to sleep on my stomach.

When I do try to sleep on my stomach I end up with Everest jumping on my back, laying down on top of me, and rubbing his head against me while he meows in my ear. After I move he jumps down and runs off with a victory meow.

My Stinkpot likes to jump on my back when I'm standing up at the kitchen sink, or especially, if I'm bent over doing ANYTHING, like cleaning out the litter boxes. He doesn't do it if I'm conveniently lying down already...that would be too easy...wouldn't require claws digging into me

If I lay on my stomach Siri will climb on my back, she really doesn't care what position you're in. She'll perch on your hip if you're laying on your side.

The only cat to literally jump on my back was Tomas a few years ago. I don't know what he was thinking but I was slightly leaned over looking at DH's monitor. All of a sudden I felt something hit my back and Tomas was on me piggy back style.
He had his paws over my shoulder and his back feet on my belt. I never got him to repeat it.

Haha, mine LOVE to be on people. They perch on shoulders, backs, hips, arms, anything. So long as they are on a person.

None of my kitties usually jump on my back however I did have a kitty growing up who was ALWAYS on my back if I was laying on my stomach or anytime I bent over.

I have three that do this: Da Magpie, whom, at 6ish pounds isn't too bad, and Streak and Jack (outside boys) who are VERY heavy and once you are bent over and one of these 15+ pounders decides your back is the perfect perch, you are kinda stuck and they also like to cling.

That's soooo cute.

One of my family cat(RIP) used to do that to my dad...not to everybody else, though.

I tried to put Ku Ku on my back(secretly wishing she'd do a step step on my back since I've seen a cat actually does a thing like "back-rub" to his/her owner!) but every time I show her my back, she immediately runs away for some reason...

LOL...Charlotte is a people "percher". She has also gotten into the act of climbing on my back when I'm sleeping as of a half hour ago.

Whisper sleeps on DH's back (or side) every night. As soon as he gets into bed, she jumps up on him and flops down. And she stays there the entire night.

I like to lie on my stomach to read in bed. Mollipop has gotten into the habit of lying on my back with her face over my left shoulder. It's almost like she's reading, too. The other night, she chirped at me.....I wonder if she was telling me to "turn the page already!!"
DH thinks it's hilarious.

We have a couple cats that like to perch on my husbands back. When I was younger, my parents had a cat that we had adopted that had been declawed by her previous owner in all 4 claws...it was the reason my parents were okay with getting a cat. She didn't like being held and hid from people...but about twice a week she would climb onto my bed while I was laying down (on my stomach) and just knead her paws on my back. It felt like a back massage! It cracked me up, and she would never do it when you wanted her to, it always had to be on her terms.
I am trying to somehow train one of my current cats to do this, but I don't even know how my parents cat learned how to do it because she already knew when we adopted her.

I like this thread. It's sweet to read about all of our climbing kitties.

Only one of my kitties habitually tries to jump on my back. And, that would be Miss Delaney. In fact, the first time I met her in person at the animal shelter, she jumped from the shelter worker's shoulder right on to mine! I should've known then what trouble I was in for. But, honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way (though she did weigh quite a bit less in her kitten days than she does now that she's 2 years old
).

Delaney will jump on my back whether I'm laying down or hunched over while working on something. She is good, though, and never has her claws out when she is jumping on me. I don't know how I got so lucky with that, but I am grateful (and so is the skin on my back and shoulders). If I'm hunched over and then move to a standing position, Delaney will typically perch herself on my shoulder. But, when I'm in bed or laying on the sofa, she is content to just curl up and purr away. I love my little tabby girl -- even if she does think she's Tarzan.

Neither Emory or Cassidy will ever jump on my back, but Finnegan occasionally will. He likes to be on top of me at all times and so it's no surprise that he'd copy suit and do as Delaney does. And, just as an aside, my dogs do it too. Of course, they can't jump on my back, but if I am laying down, they are more than happy to pop right on my back, hip, or chest to have some snuggle time with mama. I don't love it so much now that it's summer and very warm and humid, but I think it's sweet nonetheless.

My mother's boyfriend's kitten, Piggy, loves to perch herself on his shoulder. He bottle-fed her and helped her get over a terrible URI and so she's rather attached to him. But, it's not just a normal attachment -- she is obsessed with him! She will sit on his shoulder all day long. It doesn't matter if he's laying down, sitting, standing, or walking around...that kitten is always perched on his shoulder. She's a tubby little thing at almost 4 pounds at 9 weeks old and so I'm curious to see if this behavior will continue as she gets older and, well, bigger. He thinks it's adorable now, but I hesitate to wonder how he'll feel about Piggy using him as a perch when she's a full-grown adult. I mean, he didn't name her Piggy for nothin'
.

Again, I liked this thread. Now I know I'm not only with my monkey-cats.

Billy has decided his favorite place in the mornings, is on me! This morning he was a little playful and grumpy from being left alone all night...so he climbed all over me, and jumped on my lap and shoulders. He sat on my shoulders awhile, than fell asleep across my chest/stomach in what looked like a horribly uncomfortable position, but he loved it!
If we are standing, helikes to perch on our shoulders but we don't let him too often in case he falls off, he is still falling off a lot, and is too tiny to fall from too far up.

Only on your back? Aren't you lucky...

Holland will sleep on me no matter what position I am in. I lay on my stomach, she's on my back. I lay on my back, she's on my chest. I lay on my side, she's on my shoulder. I'm normally an on-my-side sleeper, and every morning around 6:00 I get woken up by a kitty on my shoulder "patting" my face with her paw because she's just starving to death.

I have to say, though, I wouldn't trade it for anything...
