I have been caring and feeding for two strays for a month now. They are outdoors which makes me feel awful and scared for them everynight but I brought the black one in because he got injured and he marked :p as they are not yet neutered but I suppose that is my next step in this process(also no low cost clinics very close or cheap) While I don't really mind I would prefer finding them a good forever home.I am in a small town and it has proven a difficult task! I have put up ads around locally and online and asked over 45 people to no avail. Our shelter is HIGH kill after only 5 days and none of the surrounding ones seem to want to take "out of county" Any suggestions would be appreciated I want either an indoor home for them or a country setting(at least safer if they are going to have to be out and most likely will have a barn for winter or something I will check out the adopters) is what my ads say They are both such loving cats but the black one is territorial over the white one and even my own cat who likes to go out now and then :-( I am trying to teach him to stop and the neutering will probably help anyway....
I need info on some places I could place them or how to advertise them better and I also request prayers! for good homes for them!
Thanks!

OMG - the black one is absolutely magnificent!

Try some of the stickies at the top of this subforum... maybe an organization like SpayAmerica or Alley Cat Allies can help.

Good luck and bless you for caring!

Do you have a friend in another county that could surrender them to a better shelter?

If you could get the male fixed asap, it would solve the spraying problem and he would be more adoptable to some people.

If they are this friendly, I doubt they are ferals, but someones pets who have been kicked out of their house or strayed away.

I will pray for them, poor dears. Could you not at least secure them at night. So many cats loose their life in the dark on the road.

I surely hope you can find a no kill or are able to find them a good home. Bless you for trying to help these beautiful animals.

It is great to again find someone who is willing to go the extra step to help these kitties. I hope you find someone in your area to help them. Keep up the good work.

Sending vibes that they stay safe.

Have a look at Petfinder.com to see if there are any shelters surrounding that may be able to help. Even a few hours away from you. You never know.

When seeking forever homes, it must be clear they are neutered (and known no sprayers) and fostered. Ie in practice - just take in.

If you write two strays and I shall neuter them soon - more difficult to find good solutions. Stray is often same as semiferal. And this means at best lotsa of fostering for most people.

So do neuter and do some fostering. If they ARE already entirely tame being strays/dumped - good if you anyway have them in so you yourelf can witness they are litter trained, no sprayers, home accustomed, preferably not too shy....
If they ARE semiferal - fostering IS necessary unless you do find someone who acually is willing to take in a semiferale and do the fostering. It happens but is not the usual. Very few shelters takes in semiferales, if any.

First after all this is done - the way should be very much more open and you can seek for real.....

Tx a lot for helping them, and

very much Good Luck!

You say they are very loving so I don't think they are feral.

Probably someone's moved away and just dumped them.

Getting them neutered, especially the Tom will help a lot. If your cat and these two accepted each other, would you be willing to give them a home?

They are two very beautiful cats.

They are just strays NOT feral. They are people friendly it only took me about 2 weeks to get the white one around to letting me pet him and now wants the attention/interaction and the black one always wants attention a lot as well and yes uses a litter box but unfortunatley since he is not neutered does mark and I am not sure what will happen with a neuter and maybe if he were an only cat see I have 2 in the house already so he might feel the need to mark here because of that?? I will still do it for the fact he needs to be more calm with other cats and the overpopulation problem
Anyway, yes, If I could get them all to get along we'd consider getting them a special cat fence and allowing them to use the basement for their shelter and then I could feed them down there and It would be so much easier on me that I would not have to feel guilty or freeze to take care of them! I cannot promise I wouldn't give them up if someone great came along who would give them a good indoor home because I would rather see them safe and indoors more as family members seperately of course!! but that is probably a dream(I don't want 4 indoors as well as a Lab that is just too much cleaning with my back problems hair and litter boxes and if they happen to get sick or something!) but they will all have to start getting along and just not sure if that will ever happen? I work with them daily squirt bottle in hand(and mostly squirting just in the air is enough!) and say NO a lot but still he chases the white one off daily and my cat does seem uneasy around him?Anyway we are giving them a home and it may be forever if need be but I must confess I would rather find them a good home of their own!!!
Thanks for the good vibes, prayers and everyone that is nice enough just to care =D
BTW what are "stickies" that Addie Bee mentioned above???
Thanks
