MOLE. They delivered another one to the porch. They hid it well too. I left the mats I cut off of Runt on the porch and it was nicely right up against them well blended in. I walked over and looked at them and it's like 'is there a mole there?' I moved it over with my foot and sure enough there was a perfectly intact dead mole. Once again I have no idea who left me the 'present' and thinks I need to add mole to my diet. I praised Mama since she's the one who seems to be digging up their holes.

I was also talking to Mitzi and I noticed Runt playing with something. That something was a dead bird. It was a pretty one too, not a dove or pigeon or some other rat with wings. It was a chickadee best I can tell. Can't remember seeing one at the feeder. I have no idea where they caught it or if they did and it wasn't already dead when they found it(it wasn't by the feeder, but they always could have moved it.) It looked like the cats killed it but if they had found it dead and played with it then it would look the same. It also could have been grabbed and dropped by a hawk and it would have looked the same. No one ate it or did anything to it, it was just dead with a puncture wound in it's chest(that's why I think it also could have been a hawk, it looked more like it was grabbed by something than killed by the cats, it looked like the only wounds were in the middle of the chest.) I disposed of both. I wasn't about to use my hands so I grabbed the litter scoop I keep outside and got them. Had an issue getting the mole until I saw the broom and just 'swept' the mole into the scoop and threw it away.

The bird bugs me but they can keep killing all the moles if they want. I have no problem with that since they are digging up the yard again this year. We don't have rabbits or squirrels this year due to the cats(they just stay away) the last squirrel I saw was in the fall or winter and it was being consumed. Hopefully we won't have moles either.

I guess they had their fun yesterday because I know the mole wasn't there and I'm sure the bird wasn't either but I don't see that part of the yard unless I go and talk to Mitzi and the only reason I saw it was that Runt was playing with it.

Like I said they can have all the moles they want and they can have all the dove pigeons and other rats with wings but they need to leave the rest of the birds alone(not going to happen, I know.) I just don't know how they managed to catch one and how the wounds were all in the middle of the chest, it looked like they grabbed it with their claws in the middle of the chest and left the rest of it unscathed. So it was either the cats or the hawks, I'll never know which one. I know when they catch a bird they usually eat it or at least that was what Goldie Jr was doing with the dove he caught in the fall or winter(not long after the squirrel.)
