Yay! Rattie pictures!

Lulu appears to be so sweet. And, I love the teardrop marking on her head. She looks like she's quite the good mommy as well -- look at all those babies! It's weird, but I always think that small animal babies (ie. hamsters, gerbils, rats) look like little pencil erasers
. But, they're cute, nonetheless. And, Cricket is just the most adorable little thing! She looks like such a sweetheart.

Both your rattie babies are absolutely precious. I can't wait to see the little ones grow up. You'll have to keep a sort of photo diary here on TCS. I can't wait until they start growing fur and ambling around -- it'll definitely be a cuteness overload!

I love how in the first pic you can see the little babies back feet and tail sticking up. So little!

Oh my! Do your kitties like staring at them? At first I thought Lulu was on mauve fabric, then I read the text saying babies. It's been decades since I've held an animal of this kind (family hamster).

I KNOW! So frickin' cute huh?!?

Oh yes, the kitties like staring at them, in fact, Shadey almost took off with Cricket last night.
Dana was playing with her her and she was crawling around on his neck. Little did Dana know that Shadey had snuck up on the back of the couch behind him, grabbed Cricket in his mouth and tried to run off with her!
She sqeaked, Dana freaked out and grabbed her back right away, but I was MAD and told Dana that if he's going to have her out around the cats he has to pay attention!
We have them in a cage in our room away from the kitties normally.

Here are some new pics I took tonight of Lulu, Cricket and the babies.

Cricket stayed still for pics more than Lulu did.

Babies, all 17 of them!

Oh my gosh! How cute. I used to be creeped out by rats, until I worked at pet store in about 8 years ago. I worked alone and the rats were quite the company! I remember we had a litter of baby females that were just sooo friendly. I never realized how cuddly and affectionate they really were until then. They definately changed my mind about them.

17 babies- WOWZA! I didn't realize such a small creature could have so many. What on Earth on you going to do with them all?! If I lived close to you, I'd be sooo interested in taking a couple. What cuties!

I'm keeping 2 females I think, and I'll do my best to find homes for all of the other's, including charging a small fee so they don't end up as snake food.

Oh, Kailie, those babies are just precious
! They look all fuzzy and sweet -- I can't wait until their eyes are open and you can post pictures that show their little personalities! It's a good thing you live so far away because I'd definitely be tempted to adopt a pair of those babies!

And, just how cute are Cricket and Lulu?! I still love Lulu's markings, but Cricket is just so adorable. She looks like such a sweetheart. I wish I could just scoop her up and love on her. And, of course I wouldn't leave little Lulu out. She looks to be sweet as pie as well. And, with all those babies, I'm certain she's a very good mommy!

I'm glad you and Dana have decided to keep two of the females. But, for your sake, I hope there are only two females. I'd never be able to choose just two out of that adorable bunch! Please continue to post pics of Cricket, Lulu, and the babies. I adore them and can't wait to watch them grow up.

Oh trust me Alison, I am going to have a SUPER hard time deciding which 2 to keep.

Right now Lulu is super aggresive when I go anywhere near her cage and tries to bite me (she has, a few times now
) but that is normal for mama rats. As soon as I get her out of the cage, she is fine.
Cricket on the other hand is pure sweetness. She was just laying in my housecoat last night and I was petting her lil head. She was happy as can be!

Lulu and Cricket are doing great! They are so curious and sweet.
We decided not to keep any of the babies after all and just stuck with our 2. We were able to find homes for 10 of the babies, but the remainder had to be returned to the pet store HOWEVER they promised they would be sold as pets only as they have a seperate bin/section for feeder rats.

I used to have 4 rats. First two boys then I adopted two senior females to give them a retirement home. My dog (the big bad dobie) was scared of them. When we had the 2 senior girls, Becky and Darlene, Whenever they were out playing Emmy would try to lick their rears whenever they were walking away from her, but when they came towards her she'd try to run away from them
and she was probably right to do so, cus Becky, the troublemaker of the two, would try to nibble at her toes, and once Emmy and I were on the bed while they were out and Becky climber on the bed really quick and bit Emmy on the nose and ran off really quick. Emmy yelped and ran to me for protection hehe!
